Dinner in New York: Gotham West Market

New York is mostly a forerunner in many categories, this also applies to food. During my time in New York I discovered that they have a lot of these so called markets. Here you find different little vendors which offer a variety of food. The most famous is probably Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking district area. But its always packed with tourists. So, here we have something more delicate for you. The Gotham West Market is located in the Hell’s Kitchen area and offers a delicious list of culinary offerings. It’s a place where young people meet and hang-out in the evening. I can highly recommend Ivan Ramen Slurp soup (Breakfast All Day Ramen and the Shrimp Buns – delicious!) , Ample Hills ice cream (post coming soon on this) and the Blue Bottle coffee (see our experience about this here!). Drinks in Toronto: El Catrin

When you go out in Toronto, you should definitely go to the distillery district. You’ll find lots of unique bars with great designs. We went to El Catrin, which is the Mexican place to be in the area. The interior design is breathtaking – it is inspired by the Mexican cult of “Day Of The Dead” with colorful wall paintings and big, black, adorned lamps, which creates a unique and vibrant atmosphere. You should at last get one of their delicious mojito pitchers with some tacos (the guacamole will be prepared freshly at your desk!). Toronto Photo Diary

Some weeks ago, I was lucky enough to visit a good friend in Toronto. It was my first time visiting Canada and I was absolutely stunned by this diverse and interesting city! As already mentioned, what fascinated me most about Toronto was its multi-culture and with that the numerous different experiences you can make in this city. Firstly, there is downtown Toronto, where skyscrapers make you feel like in New York City. Then there is the harbor area nearby the water that gives you a completely different feel and suddenly you’ll find yourself in Kensington, with an original Berlin Döner store and all kinds of foods form around the world. This vast mix of different cultures and sharing of their cultural values is what makes Toronto so really unique and exciting. What to pack

Dinner in Berlin: Long March Canteen

Berlin is a place so full of culinary experiences from all over the world, this intercultural mix makes the city so extraordinary. Recently, we discovered the Long March Canteen, a Dim Sum place in Kreuzberg. We love their cool interior design and all different kinds of hot and cold Dim Sums with a refreshing beer. Sweet Treat in New York: Alice`s Tea Cup

Living in England made me fall for one thing over and over again: scones with jam and clotted cream! It just happens to be a secret addiction and when ever I see a chance to eat this delight somewhere I’ll go for it. However it’s not so easy to find s spot where they serve them right but Alice’s Tea Cup certainly knows how to please me. I already visited this place last year during my New York visit and had to come again this year. When you go there, try the combination of a small tea pot and two scones of your choice (depending on their daily offer) for $ 13 Price $$$$$ // Service ☆☆☆☆☆ // Location ☆☆☆☆☆ // Taste ☆☆☆☆☆ Alice’s Tea Cup 102 West 73rd Street New York, NY 10023 open daily from 8am to 8pm What To Wear to this location

Coffee in Toronto: Dineen

One thing is for sure: Toronto is a coffee-loving city and we are more than happy about it! One of my favorite coffee spots is Dineen, located downtown in the financial district. I love the cafe’s distinct interior – it is both cozy and very sophisticated. I also appreciate the nice “milk bar”, just a table with different sorts of milk and sugar but arranged in a super lovely way with some flowers and silver covers for the milk cartons. During the week the place will probably always be crowded but still you’ll get your coffee outright. Culture in New York: Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island is a narrow island in New York City’s East River and definitely is worth a visit when staying in New York. Luckily the day I was there the weather was amazing, still there were not many people hanging around. It therefore it the ideal get-away place from the city if you are just longing for a close hide-away. You can get there by metro or take the Roosevelt Island Tramway.

Bath Storage Tips

A girl’s bathroom sometimes means only one thing – chaos! There is just tons of different products, brushes, nail lacquers, concealers etc… That is why we love to organize our beauty equipment in order to make our bathroom look nice and neat. Here is some tips how to organize your products: 1. Put all your brushes into a pretty glass. We love some vintage glasses and flea market finds, I found a super nice one at the flea market in Paris and since then all my brushes are stored in this special glass and it even reminds me of my Paris time. 2. Everyone knows that girls have hundreds of hair ties and they tend to lie around everywhere in our apartments. Just take all of them and put them into a jar. You will always find one if you need it and they are all in one place. 3. Put your hand wash, lotion and soap onto a small decorative plate, for example by HAY (available at Bikini Berlin). It will keep your soap from floating around in a small puddle and …

Dinner in New York: Rosa Mexicano

I‘m a huge fan of Mexican cuisine and was more than pleased to try this restaurant after a friend recommended it to me. Rosa Mexicano is located just across the street from Lincoln Center and offers the perfect dining place before an evening at the ballet or the MET opera (they also have other locations around New York). The food was absolutely delicious and I can highly recommend the three tacos and a classic quesadilla. Make sure to share these dishes with a friend so you can really explore the diversity of Mexican food. Brunch in Toronto: Maman

When I was in Toronto a few weeks ago, I had the best Saturday morning with a delicious brunch and little chat with one of the founders of the Maman Café. The story behind the two French-inspired cafés situated in New York and Toronto is five friends, each with different backgrounds in terms of fields of study, uniting and deciding to open a café as an attempt to bring some Parisian feeling into the Big Apple. All I can say is, that they definitely succeeded. As soon as I tasted their freshly made madeleines and financiers, I was transported back to the times when I entered my favorite café on Rue des Abbesses for a coffee and a petit truc sucré. We ended up talking in French and chatting about my time living in Montmatre, about what it means to run a café in such a cosmopolitan city and how different it can be from Paris. I can only highly recommend the matcha pancakes, a combination that I have never tasted like this before and was heaven for me as a green tea lover. …
