Lunch in Berlin: Café Oliv / Oliv Eat

Whereas Café Oliv in Münzstraße is already established in Berlin Mitte for a while, now the second café/restaurant of the two owners opened at Potsdamer Straße. Last week, we checked out both locations. Both are stylish in a minimalistic way – the color oliv is like a red thread and pops up every now and then, for example in form of the beautiful chairs in Oliv Eat. The food is similarly simple but delicious: I enjoyed some pasta with asparagus, peas and some very light white wine sauce – it was a perfect lunch dish! Coffee in Potsdam: Buena Vida Coffee Club

This place has been on my Potsdam guide list for quite some time. I have already been to Buena Vida Coffee Club more than once but never had my camera with me. Last Sunday I took the chance and had a coffee break with two friends and my camera. Buena Vida Coffee Club is located in the heart of Potsdam and serves all kind of Espresso drinks, warm and cold, as well as some delicious bakery treats. The coffee they serve is absolutely amazing and probably one, if not the best to drink in Potsdam. The interior is cozy and you can easily spend some time here. They also offer free wifi which makes it a great sport for working and enjoying a coffee. It took a little while to get our coffee because they take their time to prepare each one with love and therefor its totally fine to wait a while. Coffee in Berlin: earlybean

Last week we tried this coffee spot called earlybean, located in Berlin Charlottenburg at the Meyerinckplatz. It’s a small café severing freshly brewed coffee and small dishes such as salmon bagels and yoghurt with granola. The atmosphere is cozy and you can easily sit here for one or two hours. Besides the hot beverages, you can also indulge in one of their freshly made smoothies. We haven’t tried those yet because it was just too cold that morning but are happy to come back and give them a shot. Coffee in Berlin: Doppio Pazzo

Do you know this feeling when you walk through your neighborhood and spot something new that seems worth a visit? This just happened to us when we spotted Doppio Pazzo, a small café serving delicious coffee and various cakes, pastries, salads and breakfast treats. The clean interior kept in black, white and grey radiates a calm atmosphere and you can easily stay here for one or two hours. The coffee was served quickly, hot and had a delicious flavor (they seem to use a good type of bean). The coffee is a bit more expensive, soy and almond milk cost extra but its worth the price. We had the chance to try their overnight oats which are which are gluten- and sugar free. You can enjoy this healthy snack there or as take-away. Coffee in Potsdam: et cetera

Et cetera is a small café located in the center of Potsdam, linked to the city library. It offers a good range of sweet treats e.g. cakes, cookies and muffins as well as hearty tarts and a fresh soup (changing on a daily basis). I only had the chance to try a small chocolate ring cake but certainly will come back to try the other ones. The coffee was good, could have been a little hotter though. Besides normal milk they also offer soy milk (coasting 40cents extra). The interior is really warm and welcoming. They offer a good range of comfy seats and you can certainly stay for one or two hours. Coffee in Berlin: Bacis Coffee

When you enter the daily life of a student you quickly notice that coffee is a necessity for most of them. And yes, we actually count to this group. However, the coffee offered at the cafeteria is not that outstanding which is why we are constantly searching for great coffee spots closely located to our institute. Last year I stumbled across Bacis Coffee close to the subway station Dahlem Dorf and was instantly in love with their welcoming atmosphere and the delicious coffee they serve. You can really taste the coffee and are always treated with a small cookie (all café spots out there: a little sweet treat accompanying your coffee makes the costumer really happy – simple and easy!). They also serve some delicious lunch dishes, fresh bagels and some yummy cakes/cookies. Coffee in New York: Ost Café NYC

Heading to East Village during my last visit to New York made me check out Ost Café, a cozy little spot located on the corner 12th Street / Avenue A. They serve freshly brewed coffee and little sweet treats. The café is packed with people who want to enjoy a coffee and work on their laptops (home away from home as I would call it). I really liked the taste of the coffee nevertheless I didn’t try something of their food pieces since I thought they were a little too expensive. Coffee in Berlin: Windback

A beautiful, small, cozy coffee spot in my neighborhood – Windback. We love their excellent coffee, fresh croissants, fruit & mueslis and the relaxed but simple atmosphere. I often go there during the week if I’m too lazy to make breakfast or in a rush. It’s just more than beautiful to sit in Windscheidstraße, watch the people pass and sip on a cappuccino. Coffee in New York: Chalait

This place is of course nothing new to the New York-coffer-lover-scene and for sure attracts the fashion pack. Inspired by the matcha tradition of Japan, Chalait offers a whole variety of matcha products. The name of the café derives from Cha (tea in Japanese) and lait (milk in French). Besides the delicious coffee you can enjoy some little snacks such as fresh banana bread, cookies, avocado-egg toast and stuffed croissants. And if you feel the need to have some Chalait at home, you can buy some of their products in store and online. Soon they will open another spot at Chelsea Market. Coffee in New York: Cha Cha Matcha

While visiting New York it was impossible to not visit this cute place. Everyone around Prince / Canal Street was running around with a cup of Cha Cha Matcha. This café offers a good range of Matcha products starting with the classic Matcha Latte but also selling Matcha banana bread, doughnuts filled with Matcha cream and Matcha lemonade. You get it: Matcha all over the place. But of course you can also enjoy normal coffee beverages. The interior is cute and the prices normal for New York conditions. But be sure to bring your Credit Card because they don’t expect cash!
