On Saturday it’s that time of the year again. The world’s biggest Volksfest will open it’s gates in Munich. Hello, Wiesn – hello, Oktoberfest! Since 1810 these festivities are annually held in Munich but since a few years this tradition has also swept over to other areas. Also in Berlin and Potsdam are many events taking place in the next few weeks under the theme “Oktoberfest”. Jana traditionally heads to the Oktoberfest hosted by the Café am Neuen See, which took place the past weekend. Here she has collected some impressions for you to get you in the mood. Here’s her impression of the past event: “I love CANS WIESN at Café am Neuen See. Firstly, my boyfriend is the host of the event and secondly, all my friends are there! Oktoberfest in Munich might be the original, but surely the atmosphere and spirits are at least the same in our Oktoberfest tent! Wiesn Style Guide

It’s that time of the year again… No, not christmas, or Halloween, but one of the oldest German traditions – Oktoberfest! Nowadays, the Wiesn is not only celebrated in Bavaria but all over the country. Especially in Berlin there are numerous Oktoberfest events and all the cool Berlin girls are suddenly into heart-shaped clutches, cute embroideries and dirndl dresses… Crazy no less! We have to admit: we will be putting on a dirndl and dancing to some folk music this year too! Because it’s fun and some traditions are worthy to be celebrated. This year we will attend the Wiesn at Café am neuen See, one of Berlin’s most beautiful locations. You have to buy your ticket in advance, but it’s totally worth it. Dear Readers! We are more than proud to present a very special post to you, dedicated to one of the oldest traditions in German culture- the Oktoberfest! A special thank you certainly goes to the excellent Hotel Bayrisches Haus in Potsdam which functioned as the perfect location for our little shooting! Furthermore, we would like to recommend the German “Dirndl” designer Lola Paltinger who is situated in Munich.
