February’s Favorites

It’s time for another update on our three favorite beauty products of February. Detox Mask Tonerde Absolue by L’oréal The new detox masks by L’oréal have been advertised largely. Nevertheless, I have to say that they convinced me. I try to use the mask once a week (on Sundays there is always some beauty time!) and I can feel an effect. My skin feels clearer and more balanced. Perfect Match Highlighter by L’oréal  When I was on a girl’s weekend in Palma de Mallorca this year, a friend of mine introduced me to the perks of highlighter. I’m not that much of a make-up girl in terms of concealer, foundation or rouge (I always try to let my skin breathe as much as possible!) but I couldn’t argue that a little sparkle on the cheek bone adds to a more fresh and beautiful face, instantly. Lacoste pour Elle Magnetique Eau de Parfum  I’ve been in love with the Lacoste scents since we’ve been to the Lacoste perfume event in Frankfurt two years ago. For some …

Brunch in Zurich: Babu’s Bakery

In my opinion, Babu’s Bakery is one of the coziest breakfast spots in whole Zurich. The interior is traditional and romantic, and the food is delicious. You can either order pancakes, waffles, bagels or egg dishes but there are also some fitness alternatives like Bircher Muesli, Acai Bowls and Greek yoghurt. You should also try their excellent coffee! Price $$$$$ // Service ☆☆☆☆☆ // Location ☆☆☆☆☆ // Taste ☆☆☆☆☆ Babu’s Bakery Löwenstrasse 1 8001 Zurich What To Wear to this location

Bachelor Thesis: Finding a topic

As the title of this post revealed I will give you a little insight into my university life. Since I just finished my bachelor thesis and handed it in last week I figured out it would be nice to give some support to those who still have this challenge ahead. One of the hardest things in the process of setting-up the bachelor thesis is finding the topic you want to focus on. Nevertheless there are some elements you can follow in order to find the right topic. 1. Choose a topic you like by creating a mind-map This seems to be a simple advice but its so essential. You will work on this topic for months and therefor it needs to be something you are happy about. Sometimes the best way to evaluate your ideas is to create a mind-map in order to structure your thoughts. 2. Do some research If you were able to limit your selection to three to one topics its time to do some research. Check the literature statues, read articles …

Acai-Bowl

One of our obsessions since New York are Acai bowls. After we tried the Acai bowl at TwoHands we were more than willing to try it ourselves and share it with you. Here is what you need: one frozen banana, 100g frozen raspberries, 75ml almond milk (you can also go for soy or coconut milk) and one tablespoon Acai powder, fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries – it’s up to you), granola, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and nuts. How to make: Freeze a banana (cut into pieces) one night in advance. Add the banana, frozen raspberries, almond milk and Acai powder to a mixer and blend. Serve in a bowl. Garnish with the remaining ingredients. Shop some bowls

Bath Storage Tips

A girl’s bathroom sometimes means only one thing – chaos! There is just tons of different products, brushes, nail lacquers, concealers etc… That is why we love to organize our beauty equipment in order to make our bathroom look nice and neat. Here is some tips how to organize your products: 1. Put all your brushes into a pretty glass. We love some vintage glasses and flea market finds, I found a super nice one at the flea market in Paris and since then all my brushes are stored in this special glass and it even reminds me of my Paris time. 2. Everyone knows that girls have hundreds of hair ties and they tend to lie around everywhere in our apartments. Just take all of them and put them into a jar. You will always find one if you need it and they are all in one place. 3. Put your hand wash, lotion and soap onto a small decorative plate, for example by HAY (available at Bikini Berlin). It will keep your soap from floating around in a small puddle and …

Book Recommendation: How to be Parisian

This book isn’t something new for the fashion crowd out there. But since it was just released in German we thought it would be great to share it once more. The book is funny from the beginning until the end. Caroline De Maigret along with three other French ladies tells all the women around the world how to be Parisian wherever you are. What key pieces you need to have in your closet and how, most important, your attitude and habits need to be. There are no long essays but great short entries and so many good quotes everyone should keep in mind from time to time. After reading this book you start to feel a little more what life is about. It’s about living, give yourself the chance to do so and don’t let too many people judge your life after all.

Ten Things I learned from living in Amsterdam

A M S T E R D A M 1. It can be so easy to be friendly, nice and helpful. Just take a look at the Dutch people, they can show you how to do it. 2. When you study fashion or fashion management at any fashion school in the Netherlands, you’ll learn the importance of supporting young and upcoming designers or even design students. I have never witnessed a crowd of students so proudly wearing their study colleague’s designs. 3. The Dutch have an extraordinary taste in interior design. Since most Dutch leave their windows without any curtains, you get the chance to catch sight of their beautiful furniture and explicit homes. 4. There is no bad weather in Amsterdam. You’re just too weak or do not have the right clothes, get over it and it will make you stronger. Period. 5. There is no excuse for NOT riding you bicycle at any time. It does not matter if it rains, if there is a storm or sub zero temperatures – you have to t a k e y o …

Hair Couture

When you are a dancer and frequently doing performances at the theatre, you need styling products that you can rely on. Your hair is often already stressed due to many make-overs and lack of time. Mostly, you will find yourself in a situation where you have your performance earlier that night but also have some event to attend afterwards. That is when you need to create a cool hairstyle with products that do not damage your hair further but rather make it stronger, supporting the styling in the right way. Today, we took the time to try out a new hairstyle, working with products by Sebastian Professional. For our styling we made use of two products, ERUPTEK and RESINTEK. ERUPTEK has a texture that feels like lava and creates instant volume for your hair. Especially when styling curls, ERUPTEK is the perfect helper to have stronger and more long-lasting curls. We used the RESINTEK liquid wax in order to fixate the hair on one side, to get a more edgy and cool one-sided look. The product provides reliable hold but at the same time you can …

Book Recommendation: I’ll drink to that

I‘m lucky to have a good friend, who knows my taste of books and would give one new read to me for my birthday every year. This time, it was “I’ll drink to that” by Betty Halbreich. I have to admit, at first I did not know what to expect and whether it would be interesting to read a whole book about personal shopping. But after just reading three pages, I was hooked and could not stop until I finished the whole book in two nights. Betty Halbreich has that very particular dry, ironic humor that is especially my kind. I often caught myself laughing out loud while reading, which happens rarely. Betty’s stories are exciting, interesting and always have a twist. I feel that those stories are true and written from her heart, what makes them even more authentic and entertaining. I’ll drink to that is not only a book about personal shopping but more about life, its obstacles and how to find happiness thus learn to be content with what one has achieved. Betty has certainly had many exciting …

Ten Things I learned when living in Paris

1. Paris is the place build of the most beautiful and romantic architecture. Full stop. It is a pleasure and privilege to be able to walk through these countless beautiful streets and see all the famous monuments. 2. After my time in Paris I am now officially unable to eat crêpes in any other country than France. Others just don’t get it – they never taste the same. You can find my favorite crêpes store in Montmartre, in Rue des Abbesses. 3. When in Paris, you should stick to drinking black coffee. It is a waste of time and effort to try to get a nice cappuccino – the Parisians don’t believe in milky mix drinks really. And you won’t regret it since the black coffee is just far better in France! 4. The French style is a unique token of elegance in this world. It is hard to imitate and even harder to learn but it is the real deal. Only French women manage to look this elegant in a striped t-shirt and jeans …
