Culture in Washington: National Gallery of Art

Through my Art History studies I knew that the National Gallery of Art in Washington had a lot of art but when I walked through the breath-taking building I was still mesmerized. The whole museum is so beautifully arranged and the pieces are delicately hanged or placed in the rooms. For a art fan a true bliss! But most of all I was fascinated by the East and West Garden Court – a tropical oasis were I just could have stayed forever. And best part? All of this is for f r e e! If you want to visit this museum make sure to plan your day around it. It takes time but is certainly worth it. Culture in New York: Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island is a narrow island in New York City’s East River and definitely is worth a visit when staying in New York. Luckily the day I was there the weather was amazing, still there were not many people hanging around. It therefore it the ideal get-away place from the city if you are just longing for a close hide-away. You can get there by metro or take the Roosevelt Island Tramway.

Culture in Potsdam/Berlin: Frauensache

A few weeks ago I had the great chance to visit Schloss Sanssouci (a local sightseeing highlight) on aMonday, a day when the doors normally stay closed for the public. From the 22nd of August until the 22nd of November the Stiftung Preußischer Schlösser und Gärten will be hosting the exhibition “Women’s Business. How Brandeburg became Prussia“. In this the Hohenzollern women are the center of attention, how they shaped the country, what goals they had and how ambitious they were. The main exhibition will be held at Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin, in other castles such as Sanssouci, the visitors will find little information boxes for this purpose. Lyon Photo Diary I

Lyon is a city full of French charm, zest for life and romance. It can offer everything you need for a perfect city trip: culture, culinary experiences and style. Like in many French cities you may observe the French women’s impeccable style while you stroll through the beautiful streets paved with small boutiques and cafés. The church on top of the hill offers an incredible view over the whole city, afterwards you can take a walk down through the massive park and end up in an artisan ice cream store trying one of 70 different flavors.

Baroque Moments

We both are jewelry lovers which is why we are more than happy to share these delicate pieces with you. Finding the right accessories is not easy and it can take years until you have found the appropriate jewelry fitting your style and your mood. Choosing jewelry everyday can be really nerve-racking and somehow you get used to the same necklace, the same pair of earrings or the same bracelet. A routine kicks in. Therefore it is really important to add the one or other new piece to your treasure box so you can sometimes get rid of your normal pattern. First Impressions of Amsterdam

My first days in Amsterdam have been a little cold and rainy, but nevertheless simply beautiful. I am already in love with this city’s architecture, it’s cute little cafés, the delicious stroopwafels, the dreamy canals, lovely people and laid-back atmosphere. I am looking forward to seeing the seasons change and to witness spring in Amsterdam, I am sure there is nothing more beautiful. Get the perfect city bag here.
