Quinoa with Yogurt, Raspberries and Walnuts Bowl

This Christmas I had quite a few cook books on my wish list and was super happy when most of them landed under the tree. This recipe is from the book The Grain Bowl (thank you, Swenja!) by Nik Williamson and I absolutely love making this breakfast bowl in the morning. What you need: Serves 2 65g Quinoa 250ml Almond or hazelnut milk 50g rolled oats 100g rasperries 4 tablespoons honey 120g whole (full-fat) yogurt 4 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts optional: I added blueberries and walnuts “Put the quinoa into a medium pan, pour in the almond milk and 250ml water and place over high heat. Bring to boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Add the oats and increase the heat to medium. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes, or until the porridge reaches the desired consistency. You may need to add up to 120ml more water if the quinoa absorbs too much liquid. Remove from the heat. Meanwhile, put the raspberries (and if also wanted blueberries) into a small …

MC Talk with Isabelle Pollet Villard

Isabelle, raised in Bordeaux, left France and her family with 15 years to become a ballet dancer. She has danced as a professional ballet dancer for 18 years, performing almost the whole classical repertoire but also various modern pieces in Germany, Switzerland and on tour all over the world. Isabelle discovered Pilates in the late nineties after a serious foot injury. She now is a certified Pilates teacher and will be opening a new Pilates Studio “The Pilates Movement, Isabelle Pollet Villard” in Berlin Mitte (soon just five minutes from Rosenthaler Platz Subway station). When you were a child, what did you dream of being? I wanted to dance but I also remember wanting to be an archeologist for a while. Brushing the sand and dust off old stones and bones was what I was keen on. I guess this is one of my character features that led me to become a ballet dancer and now Pilates coach… always searching for those little details, clearing the “dust” to find the perfect shape, position, posture. Sports Essentials

For us as dancers and sports junkies it’s always a challenge to find the right clothes to work out. They have to feel comfy, we need to move in them and they should look nice as well! There are not many sports brands that offer these kinds of sportswear. However, there are some brands we like. Lululemon usually have stylish sports bras and tops, we love Oysho’s sports collection and of course Nike is a classic. Acai-Bowl

One of our obsessions since New York are Acai bowls. After we tried the Acai bowl at TwoHands we were more than willing to try it ourselves and share it with you. Here is what you need: one frozen banana, 100g frozen raspberries, 75ml almond milk (you can also go for soy or coconut milk) and one tablespoon Acai powder, fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries – it’s up to you), granola, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and nuts. How to make: Freeze a banana (cut into pieces) one night in advance. Add the banana, frozen raspberries, almond milk and Acai powder to a mixer and blend. Serve in a bowl. Garnish with the remaining ingredients. Shop some bowls

Lunch in New York: by Chloe.

If there is one thing that is unique about New York, it’s its culinary diversity. I am pretty sure that there is nearly nothing than you cannot find in this city, no matter what cuisine and style it is. By Chloe is a place that offers a healthy alternative to fast food – I would describe it as a hybrid fast food restaurant, since you get your food at the counter but still the atmosphere/interior is nice and you can sit down to eat after you took your order. The menu is heaven for health-freaks, vegans, vegetarians and all kinds of foodies. There are super nice salads (we can recommend the Quinoa Taco Salad!), as well as vegetarian burgers and the complementary sweet potato fries, which cannot be missing either! As in every in-place in New York, you’ll have to be a little patient to find a seat, since the place is usually packed. Ordering the food on the other hand is super fast and there is good service. Our first insider’s tip is situated on Mott Street, in SoHo and is called Two Hands. The place serves delicious and healthy creations, you’ll have to try the Acai bowl and the Corn Fritters. It’s basically brunch heaven. Since it was Saturday, we waited a little for our table but it was totally worth it.
