Cailin Klohk, who we spotted through Instagram, is 23 years old and was born and raised in Germany. Her mum is Irish, so she grew up speaking English as her first language and moved to London to study here when she was just 19. Today, Cailin works as the Junior Fashion Writer at Topshop Head Office. Her job includes managing and writing the Topshop blog (find an article here on how she got her job), as well as writing features for the Topshop UK website, newsletters and more. This background got us hocked instantly and we are super happy that we got her to fill out our interview. When you were a child, what did you dream of being? I wanted to be an actress when I was younger – I was actually signed with an agency for a while and got quite far in the casting rounds for some big German productions, but I quickly noticed I wasn’t that into it after all, so I gave up that dream. Then I wanted to be a …
The first couple of times I visited London, I did not even know the Shoreditch area. But when I found out, I was simply amazed! I love this edgy and cool side of London and in particular the Spitalfields market. I love to go there on sundays, even though it is quite crowded. But the many different food, arts and clothing stands are worth it.
We both love London more than many other cities in this world. London just feels different, we somehow feel at home there. What I love most is to stroll through my favorite neighborhoods and just explore the areas. Some of my favorite districts are Marylebone, Shoreditch, Kensington and Covent Garden. What to pack
It is safe to say that London is heaven for brunch lovers. There are countless nice places offering the best food, whether it is the classic English breakfast, intercontinental, healthy, exotic or French… This time we went out for brunch with family and friends at the German Gymnasium, nearby King’s Cross station. The interior is super nice and the food as well. We can recommend the granola, even though it comes with only a tiny bit of yoghurt so you’ll probably have to order some extra yoghurt! While in London you really need to try this place. Masala Zone is a Indian street food restaurant located all around London. I have always been at their Covent Garden location which is always full in the evening. If you want to come with a bigger group you should make a reservation a little earlier. Ever since Tara and I found this place some years ago, I come here once when I’m in London. And I always enjoy the same dish: the regular Thali with Chapatti. It’s absolutely delicious. All those different flavours are a true sensation. Hot, spicy, sweet and always fresh. You can never go wrong with this dish. It coasts about £11.00 and you are more than satisfied afterwards. As a drink I like to choose a mango lassi since the food can be quite spicy sometimes (coasting about £ 3.00). I‘m officially back from my trip to London and Oxford. And as always – I totally loved it! Next Thursday I will be leaving again. This time I’m off to Paris to visit Jana and be around Paris Fashion Week with her – it will be so much fun. Jana already made a schedule for the time I will be there which means there will be a lot of fun things to do. In London I once again enjoyed the Shake Shack burger. I first tried them in New York and then found out that they have a Shack in London too. It’s looked directly in theMarket Building and offers the same classics as in NY. However I think they are too expensive. In New York you pay with dollar which makes a whlote lot ofdifference than paying in british pounds. One classic Shake Shack burger coasts £ 5,00 – which makes about € 6,40 // In New York you pay for the same burger $ 4,95 and this makes about € 3,80. Another thing …
London Fashion Week kicked-off yesterday and I was able to snap a few pictures around Somerset House again. Already last year I was runing around the scene and now again. September is somehow my London month. Mostly I look out for beautiful bages and there are some labels I simply can’t get enough of: Celiné and Mulberry! Those two are just so beautfiul and somehow all over the place.
When you read these lines I will already be on my way to… London! At least once a year I have to visit this city otherwise I would go crazy. It’s my absolut favorite city and staying there is always a get-away for me. I’m not the kind-off hanging-around-at-the-beach-girl and I even love London on rainy days. Besides that I will also be staying in Oxford for 4 days since my boyfriends starts studying there. Oxford is so beautiful too and I got some nice things planed when I’m around my old home. It will be a whole lot of fun and when I’m back there will be many new pictures. Besides this I’m there during London Fashion Week. Got one show on the schedule and will be around for some street style snaps. Check out my last years LFW experience. These pictures are all mixed together from past London trips
