Personal Issue: What makes Christmas so special to me?

It’s the season to be jolly and bright. Nevertheless I have been thinking about these festive days and what makes them so special to me. Because way to often we forget how special these days are and why we actually like to celebrate them. Christmas is a Christian feast on which they celebrate the birth of Jesus on the 25th of December. On the evening of the 24th the people start to celebrate with dinners, worship services and exchanging gifts. It’s a tradition which has become far more commercial and is not only celebrated by Christians anymore. I for myself have no religion. My parents have been baptized as Christian and evangelist but decided to let us decide for ourselves if we want to enter a church or follow a certain confession. I never felt really secure with either of them which is why I decided not to be baptized. But this is another topic I don’t want to illustrate now. My dad worked for the German military and we had to move cities quite …

L.O.V. Cosmetics

At the Edition F Female Future event we first came across the new cosmetics line L.O.V. – we got a lovely goody bag with some really nice nail polish colors and make-up products. After testing the products we can only say, that we’re fans already! We didn’t know about this new cosmetic line before since, like most of us, already have our make-up products we love and keep. But sometimes it’s nice to get to know a new one. The design of the products is really clear and minimalistic but visually they are a sensation. Blending in to every bathroom collection or dressing table decoration.

Personal Issue: About the long-distance-relationship-trend

A few weeks ago I stumbled across this article about relationships. In this they wrote that more than half of all Germans have lived in a long-distance relationship during the last year. Surprising? Not really. Many of my friends have been in this position and I can also give a deep insight on this topic. But is this really a new trend? An old, and yet still unfamiliar, form of relationship? My long-distance relationship lasted 3 years. Before we entered this statues we have been together for not quite a year. When you finish school, life stretches ahead of you and there are so many possibilities. And I actually love to encourage anyone to follow his or her dreams and give it a shot, no matter how far it is away. I’m a strong believer that, if the feelings are strong enough, it will be okay to go through such a period of time. Therefore I would never ask someone to not leave if they truly want it and on the other side I would …

Brunch in Berlin: House of small Wonder

In Williamsburg, House of Small Wonder was one of my favorite cafés because they make the best matcha latte in town! That’s why I was super happy to discover that another House of Small Wonder opened in Berlin some time ago! I love that the place is super cozy and instantly transports me back to my times in Williamsburg. Go there for all day brunch and lunch in a nice atmosphere. Dinner in Amsterdam: Ron Gastrobar

Ron’s gastrobar is by far my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. It offers a wide range of delicious small meals that I would describe as European-fusion. The design is chic and classic, with ironic art pieces on the walls and newspaper like-designed menus. You should definitely try and take different dishes at your table, giving the chance to share the different culinary experiences! Book Recommendation: I’ll drink to that

I‘m lucky to have a good friend, who knows my taste of books and would give one new read to me for my birthday every year. This time, it was “I’ll drink to that” by Betty Halbreich. I have to admit, at first I did not know what to expect and whether it would be interesting to read a whole book about personal shopping. But after just reading three pages, I was hooked and could not stop until I finished the whole book in two nights. Betty Halbreich has that very particular dry, ironic humor that is especially my kind. I often caught myself laughing out loud while reading, which happens rarely. Betty’s stories are exciting, interesting and always have a twist. I feel that those stories are true and written from her heart, what makes them even more authentic and entertaining. I’ll drink to that is not only a book about personal shopping but more about life, its obstacles and how to find happiness thus learn to be content with what one has achieved. Betty has certainly had many exciting …

Culture in Amsterdam: La Dame Aux Camélias

Going out to see a Ballet performance is one of our favorite things to do together. So of course we couldn’t miss the beautiful performance of “La Dame Aux Camélias” by the Het National Ballet. The performance was breath-taking, we were so captivated by the exceptional choreography, which displayed very powerful, emotional moves. Apart from this, the National Opera and Ballet of Amsterdam is an extraordinary building with a view on the canals at sunset. Boots – Zara Jacket – H&M Bag – Louis Vuitton

Ten Things I learned when living in Paris

1. Paris is the place build of the most beautiful and romantic architecture. Full stop. It is a pleasure and privilege to be able to walk through these countless beautiful streets and see all the famous monuments. 2. After my time in Paris I am now officially unable to eat crêpes in any other country than France. Others just don’t get it – they never taste the same. You can find my favorite crêpes store in Montmartre, in Rue des Abbesses. 3. When in Paris, you should stick to drinking black coffee. It is a waste of time and effort to try to get a nice cappuccino – the Parisians don’t believe in milky mix drinks really. And you won’t regret it since the black coffee is just far better in France! 4. The French style is a unique token of elegance in this world. It is hard to imitate and even harder to learn but it is the real deal. Only French women manage to look this elegant in a striped t-shirt and jeans …

Saving Memories

For photo junkies like us the digital age is both fascinating as well as slightly terrifying. We all know there is one major downside of digital photos – once your storage breaks or any other technical issue occurs, all pictures are gone, some forever. That is why we both have a set rule: from time to time we remind ourselves to print out our most beloved pictures and we also find much joy in designing photo albums. There is nostalgic and solid about an actual photo album that you can hold in your hands. It is a memory that lasts and always a nice present for our loved ones. One service we can only recommend is the CEWE photo world. The page offers an easy way to design and print your photo albums online and you will get them delivered to your doorstep in only three days. Check out all the different products they offer and find a way to secure your memories, you will be grateful for it one day. With friendly support of CEWE
