Drinks in Toronto: El Catrin

When you go out in Toronto, you should definitely go to the distillery district. You’ll find lots of unique bars with great designs. We went to El Catrin, which is the Mexican place to be in the area. The interior design is breathtaking – it is inspired by the Mexican cult of “Day Of The Dead” with colorful wall paintings and big, black, adorned lamps, which creates a unique and vibrant atmosphere. You should at last get one of their delicious mojito pitchers with some tacos (the guacamole will be prepared freshly at your desk!). Dinner in New York: Aurora

Aurora is probably one of the most romantic spots in Williamsburg. You’ll love sitting in this patio lit by typical NY light chains. But not only the atmosphere is amazing, also the food is absolutely worthwhile. The menu features Italian food, as well as daily specials. We can among others recommend the Paccheri alla Norma, wheat pasta with roasted eggplant, melted tomato, buffalo mozzarella and pine nut pesto or a refreshing Insalata con Gorgonzola with baby spinach and walnut vinaigrette. Farewell Dinner

This is going to be the last post from me in Berlin for a little while now as I have been heading to New York recently for some working experience in the fashion business! I had a wonderful last night in Berlin with close friends and family at Grace Restaurant, wearing a simple black and white outfit with some rosé golden details. Shoes – New Look Skirt – Zara Blouse – H&M Bag – Coccinelle

New York Mood

Time is running like crazy and soon we both will be located in New York. Jana arrived safely in the Big Apple and enjoys some free time before her intership kicks-off. I’m still in Berlin training and working before I will join Jana at the beginning of September. This will be a huge opportunity for both of us and we already got so many great things on our list. I got this black leather bag the other day and absolutely love it. It’s from the label Irene Van Ryb, never heard of it before but fallen for it straight away. You won’t believe how hard it is to find a good, not too over priced black leather bag. Was looking for so long, this will join me on my journey to New York… as well as the jacket, of course. Drinks in Berlin: Grace Bar

The Grace Bar is the elegant extension of the Grace restaurant, both situated in the Hotel Zoo. The bar is seeking to reinterpret the classic drinks of the 1920s and 50s, reflecting the building’s spirit as meeting point of the political and intellectual elite of that time. Their drink menu is extensive and offers cocktail gems like Floriferous Fizz by Grace, a Westside Cosmopolitan and Shades of Grey. Make me feel the warm, make me feel the cold.

Yesterday evening a spend a lovely girls night with some of our friends. We had homemade pizza, a delicious cucumber/feta salad, fresh melon with ham and cool drinks at a friends place. After this delicious dinner we headed to the cinema and watched Magic Mike XXL. Honest opinion? The first one was better. We missed the story somehow. Nevertheless the evening with the girls was a sensation and the weather was absolutely amazing! However the outfit combination here was taken on Thursday before our dinner at the Grace restaurant. Make sure to take a look at our post about this place! Shirt – H&M Blazer – Zara Sandals – Zara Necklace – Sence Copenhagen

Drinks in Amsterdam: Mata Hari Bar

Mata Hari is a real insider’s tip in Amsterdam. The bar is hidden within the red light district and you wouldn’t expect such a cozy and comfortable atmosphere considering the surroundings. The interior consists of vintage furniture and many different antique details, building a casual hang-out setting. Upstairs is the restaurant, offering dishes with an exotic twist. Downstairs in the bar, a extensive drinks menu is awaiting, featuring classics like Moscow mule, different gin tonics or beers. The place is open daily for lunch, dinner and drinks and offers fair trade products whenever it is possible. Drinks in Amsterdam: Skylounge

The Skylounge Amsterdam has a breathtaking panoramic view of the whole city – there are even “sky maps” that explain which buildings you can see, first thing when you enter the bar. The place is a meeting point for Amsterdamers and internationals from all over the world. It has a very cozy but straightforward and cosmopolitan atmosphere. You may either have coffee but truly this place lives up at night, when they serve the best cocktails in town. We can recommend the “Sky Thai” – an exotic version of Mai Thai served in a small Tikki cup. If you want to go all in, you’ll have to get “the Bartender’s skull”, which is a huge glass of a cocktail of your choice to share with your friends. Drinks in Berlin: Monkey Berlin

The Monkey Bar is another hotspot situated in the west of Berlin. It has a gorgeous view through all it’s wide glass windows and is aptly named “Monkey Bar”, since you are able to observe the monkeys of the Berlin Zoo from up there. The Monkey bar serves delicious drinks (try the Gin Basil Smash or the homemade lemonade) and some bar snacks like sweet potato fries or Caesar salad. However, here’s a fair warning: the Monkey Bar has been recommended in many travel guides thus it tends to be really crowded on weekends and nights in general. So either decide to go early or schedule a bit of waiting time – the view and atmosphere is worth it.
