Breakfast in New York: Kellogg’s Diner

When you are in the United States you should at least once go to a typical American diner. In New York, we went to Williamsburg-based Kellogg’s Diner and it was awesome! Get one of the breakfast specials and make sure to take a lot of maple syrup with your pile of pancakes! Healthy in Berlin: DALUMA

To visit DALUMA at Rosenthaler Platz in Berlin was long on our to-do list. Past Friday, we finally made it! What can be said is that DALUMA is definitely the right place if you like healthy vegan food, basically all that is green! The place itself is simple but it’s food is nutritious and freshly made. Culture in Washington: National Gallery of Art

Through my Art History studies I knew that the National Gallery of Art in Washington had a lot of art but when I walked through the breath-taking building I was still mesmerized. The whole museum is so beautifully arranged and the pieces are delicately hanged or placed in the rooms. For a art fan a true bliss! But most of all I was fascinated by the East and West Garden Court – a tropical oasis were I just could have stayed forever. And best part? All of this is for f r e e! If you want to visit this museum make sure to plan your day around it. It takes time but is certainly worth it. Sweet Treat in New York: Alice`s Tea Cup

Living in England made me fall for one thing over and over again: scones with jam and clotted cream! It just happens to be a secret addiction and when ever I see a chance to eat this delight somewhere I’ll go for it. However it’s not so easy to find s spot where they serve them right but Alice’s Tea Cup certainly knows how to please me. I already visited this place last year during my New York visit and had to come again this year. When you go there, try the combination of a small tea pot and two scones of your choice (depending on their daily offer) for $ 13 Price $$$$$ // Service ☆☆☆☆☆ // Location ☆☆☆☆☆ // Taste ☆☆☆☆☆ Alice’s Tea Cup 102 West 73rd Street New York, NY 10023 open daily from 8am to 8pm What To Wear to this location

Lunch in New York: by Chloe.

If there is one thing that is unique about New York, it’s its culinary diversity. I am pretty sure that there is nearly nothing than you cannot find in this city, no matter what cuisine and style it is. By Chloe is a place that offers a healthy alternative to fast food – I would describe it as a hybrid fast food restaurant, since you get your food at the counter but still the atmosphere/interior is nice and you can sit down to eat after you took your order. The menu is heaven for health-freaks, vegans, vegetarians and all kinds of foodies. There are super nice salads (we can recommend the Quinoa Taco Salad!), as well as vegetarian burgers and the complementary sweet potato fries, which cannot be missing either! As in every in-place in New York, you’ll have to be a little patient to find a seat, since the place is usually packed. Ordering the food on the other hand is super fast and there is good service. Coffee in New York: Blue Bottle Coffee

Life in New York City most naturally demands a lot of caffeine. That is usually why you can find very nice and skilled coffeeshops all over the city. Blue Bottle is such coffee shop, only selling coffee that is 48 hours out of the roaster, since that is when the coffee flavor peaks. Beans are sourced responsively and deliciously rich in their taste. Blue Bottle coffee has developed a small network of a couple of shops all over New York, for example in Chelsea, at the Bryant Park and on the High Line. Dinner in New York: Aurora

Aurora is probably one of the most romantic spots in Williamsburg. You’ll love sitting in this patio lit by typical NY light chains. But not only the atmosphere is amazing, also the food is absolutely worthwhile. The menu features Italian food, as well as daily specials. We can among others recommend the Paccheri alla Norma, wheat pasta with roasted eggplant, melted tomato, buffalo mozzarella and pine nut pesto or a refreshing Insalata con Gorgonzola with baby spinach and walnut vinaigrette. Williamsburg Photo Diary

Once you are in New York longer than just a few weeks, you’ll start to discover one area at the time and eventually move to Brooklyn’s new hotspot – Williamsburg. The area is mostly young and arty, with many wall paintings and cafes to hang out, as well as some rooftops to have a chilled glass of Brooklyn lager beer. What I love most about this area is that around each corner, there is another interesting thing waiting and this district is so full of contrasts. We will keep you updated with our favorite spots in Williamsburg soon! What To Wear

Book Recommendation: How to be Parisian

This book isn’t something new for the fashion crowd out there. But since it was just released in German we thought it would be great to share it once more. The book is funny from the beginning until the end. Caroline De Maigret along with three other French ladies tells all the women around the world how to be Parisian wherever you are. What key pieces you need to have in your closet and how, most important, your attitude and habits need to be. There are no long essays but great short entries and so many good quotes everyone should keep in mind from time to time. After reading this book you start to feel a little more what life is about. It’s about living, give yourself the chance to do so and don’t let too many people judge your life after all.

New York Mood

Time is running like crazy and soon we both will be located in New York. Jana arrived safely in the Big Apple and enjoys some free time before her intership kicks-off. I’m still in Berlin training and working before I will join Jana at the beginning of September. This will be a huge opportunity for both of us and we already got so many great things on our list. I got this black leather bag the other day and absolutely love it. It’s from the label Irene Van Ryb, never heard of it before but fallen for it straight away. You won’t believe how hard it is to find a good, not too over priced black leather bag. Was looking for so long, this will join me on my journey to New York… as well as the jacket, of course.
