MC Talk with Johannes Heinrichs

Johannes Heinrichs is a Potsdam-based actor, which I met during a project at the theatre. He got his acting education in Ulm and Babelsberg, both re-woned academies for acting. He is also known for acting in numerous tv productions, for example „Club der roten Bänder“, an addictive series which aired on Vox in 2016. Right now, I’m actually working on another project with him, this time it is dance-related – stay tuned! When you were a child, what did you dream of being? I dreamed a lot but I had no plan. I always act spontaneously. Becoming an actor was a project that came up slowly and gradually when I was a teenager. What do you always take with you when you travel? Lip care, fishermen’s friend (spearmint) and music (!!!) What is your favorite spot on earth? I’m not sure I ‘ve already found that favorite spot on earth. San Francisco was great, but I think a little hut near the beach in the Caribbean would be much more interesting. What is one thing …

Coffee in Potsdam: Buena Vida Coffee Club

This place has been on my Potsdam guide list for quite some time. I have already been to Buena Vida Coffee Club more than once but never had my camera with me. Last Sunday I took the chance and had a coffee break with two friends and my camera. Buena Vida Coffee Club is located in the heart of Potsdam and serves all kind of Espresso drinks, warm and cold, as well as some delicious bakery treats. The coffee they serve is absolutely amazing and probably one, if not the best to drink in Potsdam. The interior is cozy and you can easily spend some time here. They also offer free wifi which makes it a great sport for working and enjoying a coffee. It took a little while to get our coffee because they take their time to prepare each one with love and therefor its totally fine to wait a while. Breakfast in Potsdam: Zweitwohnsitz

A few friends of mine already recommended this place to me and I was really happy to finally try it last Friday. Zweitwohnsitz (meaning like second home) is a small café located in Potsdam West. The interior is really charming and you feel home instantly. We headed there for breakfast but they also serve various lunch options, filled Pita breads and delicious looking cake (need to come back and try a slice). On a paper you can find various breakfast pieces and a free space to fill in a number of the amount you want. It offers you the chance to put together your own breakfast they way you want it to be. I absolutely loved the coffee because it was a good ground coffee, rich in smell and flavor. Besides normal milk they also offer soy, lactose-free and oat milk (my new favorite milk for coffee). I certainly need to come back since many people recommended me to go there on a Saturday for their brunch buffet. You see, still so many options to …

Culture in Potsdam: Museum Barberini

Since a few weeks the city center of Potsdam has been enriched by another great cultural attraction: the Museum Barberini. Filled with pieces reaching from the Old Masters to contemporary artists, this place is a true sensation for art lovers. It took quite some time to find the right place and building for the museum but with the newly build Plazzo Barberini the art, mainly sponsored by Hasso Plattner, has finally found a good setting. The architecture of the building is beautiful: free, spacious and filled with light. If you plan to visit the museum make sure to bring some time and make sure to buy some tickets before. Even though its already open since a few weeks there are still queue in front of the main entrance in the morning. Another great tip: download their free! App and enjoy some good, short entries on the art displayed in the museum. Museum Barberini Alter Markt Humboldtstraße 5–6 14467 Potsdam What To Wear to this location

Coffee in Potsdam: et cetera

Et cetera is a small café located in the center of Potsdam, linked to the city library. It offers a good range of sweet treats e.g. cakes, cookies and muffins as well as hearty tarts and a fresh soup (changing on a daily basis). I only had the chance to try a small chocolate ring cake but certainly will come back to try the other ones. The coffee was good, could have been a little hotter though. Besides normal milk they also offer soy milk (coasting 40cents extra). The interior is really warm and welcoming. They offer a good range of comfy seats and you can certainly stay for one or two hours. Sweet Treat in Potsdam: Die Eisfrau

This is probably the dream ice cream shop of our childhood. Cute stripped cups, fresh waffles, lovely toppings and delicious ice cream. Die Eisfrau offers all these aspects. Situated in Babelsberg, a district of Potsdam, this cute shop offers one of the best ice creams in town. The range of flavors changes daily and you will be able to try varieties such as chocolate with chili, rice pudding, grapefruit, Pina Colada or Cappuccino. The magic of working at the theater

Since nine years I have been a part of the Dance Academy Marita Erxleben. Each year we create a ballet inspired by a fairy tale. Over the years this has become a true tradition for me and since 2013 I started to snap some backstage pictures during rehearsals and performances. I love pictures taken from the audience area but my favorites are those that take you behind the main stage. This is the actual location where all the magic happens in my opinion. You can feel the tension, the excitement and the passion everyone shares. Here you see moments of joy, anxiety and anticipation. If you ever get the chance to work at a theater, take it. Here you are able to experience new roles and just escape the daily life.

Sans Soucci Sundays

Sundays are for… relaxing, snapping pictures and blog work! Especially, sunny Sundays. This time we went to the Sanssoucci Park, which is always a nice setting for a small photo shoot. favorite and most worn leather jacket – Zara Boot Cut Jeans – Zara Shirt – H&M Belt – Mango  Sunglasses – Ray Ban

Lunch in Potsdam: Fahland Bistro

Last month the bakery chain Fahland (to be found in Potsdam and the surrounding area) opened a bistro in the heart of Potsdam. This is a new addition to their former concept. Along with their baked goods they offer sandwiches, soups, quiches, hearty salads, cakes and little tartlets. The interior is nicely chosen: warm and welcoming (created by Martina Haag). But I was really disappointed by the service. The seller behind the counter seemed stressed and annoyed by someone ordering something. And this actually has a whole impact on your visit. The coffee wasn’t hot enough from the beginning which is why it cooled out too quickly. In total it was nice to try and the food was good but I guess I will not come back because of the unfriendly service and the cold coffee. Bouquet of Dots

In the next couple of weeks I will be attending a handful of events where it is necessary to dress chic, which is why I figured it would be nice to invest into a new dress. When it comes down to such events it’s nice to have something in your closet you can always rely on e.g. this dotted H&M dress from the current collection (available in stores now). Since most of the events involve church visits I have chosen a knee-long dress with a flattery skirt and a narrow waist line. And after all the occasions the dress will still be a nice summer piece.
