Dinner in Potsdam: My Keng

For the locals this place isn’t a big surprise but we still want to share it with all of you. My Keng is mainly know as a sushi bar in the heart of Potsdam serving also many other delicious dishes. All food they serve are absolutely delicious and super fresh. The open kitchen offers a direct insight and you can observe how your dish is prepared. The price range is average for good sushis. Avocado Makis cost 4.50 € and Anago Makis (salt water eel) cost 5.00 € – see these two in the pictures above. As a drink we highly recommend their Chanh Da a lime, mint and brown sugar mixture – super refreshing (coasting 3.80 €). Lunch in Potsdam: Backstoltz

Ok, so here comes my absolut favorite place in Potsdam for lunch AND a sweet treat (but that will be worth another post). First I would like to introduce to you Backstoltz as a spot for lunch. They have a daily changing card with a variation of dishes. You will always find different quiche’s and soups (around € 4,00) on their menu, too. The prices are really good and adequate. Main courses can cost from 7 to 15 euros, depending on what they offer. A quiche with a salad costs € 5,50 and is really enough for lunch. For € 1,20 you can add a big salad to the dish. On that day I enjoyed a goats cheese with fresh fruits, salad and baguette for € 8,90 – a true sensation! They also serve a delicious breakfast until 12pm. Sweat Treat in Potsdam: Fräulein Jakobine

Finally there is a place in Potsdam where you can buy some Macarons! A friend of mine got married last week and I was looking for some macarons which would complete my gift for the bridal couple. And tadaa I found THE place. Besides that Fräulein Jakobine (owned by lovely Anne Gersitz) is a little café where you can also enjoy some coffee, different cakes, muffins and weekly changing lunch dishes. A macaron costs € 1,40 and they serve many different, always changing flavors. You can sit inside or outside when the weather allows it. Coffee to go is also available. The price list for the drinks you find in these pictures. I didn’t find the time to enjoy a warm coffee there but was able to try the cold brew coffee quick which I really liked. Nice on a warm day! Fräulein Jakobine Am Bassin 11 14467 Potsdam open Tuesday – Sunday / 11am – 6pm

Must visit in Potsdam: Park Sanssouci Part I

It’s an early sunny Sunday morning and I’m out snapping some ballet pictures. Choosing the right location in Potsdam actually isn’t that easy because during the summer season there are so many tourists around town, running through every picture. If you ever come to beautiful Potsdam you must visit Park Sanssouci. Want a tipp? Get up really early in the morning, head to the park and just breath in this perfect place. You will possibly only meet some joggers or dog walkers. Around every corner you will find something new – let it be a magnificent building, a bubbling fountain or some beautiful flowers. You can visit the whole park grounds for free. If you want to visit one of the buildings you need to buy a ticket. These are just a few pictures, soon there will come some more.

Lunch in Potsdam: Burgerbüro

This places isn’t really new here in Potsdam but as it is with all those local places, you never go there. But since we want to provide you with some great to-go-to food destinations we tried this restaurant/imbiss for you. Burgerbüro is located in Potsdam-Babelsberg, not in the main center of the city actually. You come in and pull a number which is your pick-up code in the end. Mainly you come here for the burgers, of course. The Country Burger was super delicious and costs € 4,60 (if you add extra cheese it’s € 0,60 more). If you want some fries do share them if you go together with someone, the portion is enough for two since the burger is really big and filling. After this you honestly don’t need a dessert and try to come with a rather empty stomach. Sweet Treat in Potsdam: Lekker Snoepjes

Of course Berlin provides us with so many lovely places and sights we could report about  but why not look at the things we have in our surrounding? Potsdam is not only a very historical city,  it also has it’s small insider tip’s which we would like to share with you a bit more.  We are both not born here but since our school was right in the city-center we got around  quite a lot. And just on the other side of the street (sometimes things are really close!) we had from time to time the pleasure to enjoy a splendid cup of hot chocolate and and some superb  pralines or a delicious piece of home-made cake.  The place, a little café and praline heaven, is called Lekker Snoepjes and was founded by Tanja Hoffmann and Franziska Tölcke in 2008.  Both studied in different cities and different subjects yet somehow faith brought them together. They love sweet things and above all pralines. First they sold their creations on a market before opening a café.  In their …
