My ten favorite places in Weimar

I would never ever have thought that I would be visiting Weimar more than once or twice. But with my boyfriend studying here it has become a regular weekend get-away destination for me. And honestly – I love this little city! Therefore I’m really happy to share with you my ten favorite places around town. 1. Gelateria Giancarlo is probably the most amazing ice cream café I have ever been to. They have at least 50 different flavors every day and change them from time to time. 2. Goethes house – typical tourist destination but definitely worth a visit. Just seeing how much Goethe was collecting and studying is overwhelming. 3. The Bauhaus Museum along with the Bauhaus University is another aspect why Weimar is so famous. 4. Anno 1900 is a little restaurant located at the Goetheplatz serving delicious food – you will definitely love their menu! 5. The Anna Amalia Library should be at the top of your must-see list. The beautiful interior and the old books are just a feast for the eyes. In 2004 nearly everything was lost due to …

Sweet Treat in Weimar: Koriat

When in Weimar you certainly shouldn’t miss this delicious sweet treat heaven. Koriat is a local insiders’ tip serving delicious homemade cake with fresh and flavorful ingredients. In their display you will find a classical carrot cake next to a chocolate pecan cake orn a cheese-cherry-white chocolate cake (coasting from 2.50 to 3.00 €). The range is quite big and you will have a problem to choose one in the end (extra note: it’s self-service here!) Along with a tasty slice of cake make sure to drink a good, strong coffee to compensate the sweetness. Staying in Weimar: Design Apartments Weimar

When thinking of Weimar you instantly think of Goethe and Schiller, theatre and Bauhaus. It’s this typical city nearly every school class visits and where you find a lot of sightseers. But besides all these cultural highlights, Weimar simply is a perfect little weekend get-away. And therefore you of course need a cool place to stay. Of course you can choose on of those many hotels there but when you are looking for something more personal this is the right place for you. Design Apartments Weimar are two holiday apartments you can rent during your stay in Weimar. The owners offer a big and a smaller flat furnished with interior design pieces from former Bauhaus University graduates who get the chance to present their pieces to the general public. Besides this you will be able to find design classics such as the Eames Plastic Side Chair. But more important is, that you can buy the design pieces straight away. When staying in the apartment you somehow are in a showroom where you can find pieces for your own flat. The owners of the apartments offer …

Breakfast in Weimar: Fama Café & Bücher

During my last stay in Weimar my boyfriend and I took the chance to try this beautiful little café called Fama. It is located in the heart of the city and serves delicious breakfast as well as lunch and cake in the afternoon. Everything you see on the table was absolutely delicious and the price was more than fair. In total we paid 22.90 € – which is absolutely appropriate for what we enjoyed. Only tiny little minus point: it took a while until everything was served but certainly waiting was for it. Lunch in Weimar: Franz & Willi

We are delighted to add a new guide to our list: #weimarguide is now officially a part of our delicate list. And to kick this off with something absolutely special we introduce to you the burger house Franz & Willi. Located in the city center you can enjoy some absolutely delicious burgers here. The price is a little higher than you would expect but for that quality and that quantity it’s definitely worth it. If you are happy to try one I can recommend the soft cheese burger (small € 8.30) or the BBQ-Bacon burger (small € 10.10). Also add some fries and try one of their exotic sauces like cranberry-pepper-mayo or wasabi-chili-garlic-mayo. 24 hours in Weimar

I have spent a beautiful weekend in Weimar. The sun was shining bright and for some hours it was possible to forget about all the exam stress which is awaiting me at home. A short but intense 24 hours trip. Contrast Skater Dress – SwayChic Shoes – Zara Leather Jacket – Stefanel

I somehow love going back in time with some style trends. A mix of nineties and Grease I would call this combination. Dare to show some skin but not too much. Throw on your leather jacket and off you go. Black bandeau top – Weekday Leather jacket – Stefanel Skinny black trousers – Topshop White chucks – Converse Silver jewelry – Tiffany & Co. + Vintage

Four Days & Three Nights

After those stressing exam days I was more than happy to escape the old familiar everyday-life and head to Weimar. These pictures were taken from last Saturday till yesterday and show what I have been doing in those four days with my lovely boyfriend. We enjoyed snowy Weimar, a beautiful Swan Lake performance by the Staatsballett Berlin and relaxed in a modern hotel.

A day with poets and philosophers

“Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men.”   Johann Wolfgang von Goethe  I spent the weekend in Weimar, a little town famous for it’s cultural heritage and the place were the sentence “A nation of poets and philosophers” comes true. My boyfriend will study architecture at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, so I will get the chance to go there again. Pictures by Klemens & Vanessa
