Drinks in Toronto: El Catrin

When you go out in Toronto, you should definitely go to the distillery district. You’ll find lots of unique bars with great designs. We went to El Catrin, which is the Mexican place to be in the area. The interior design is breathtaking – it is inspired by the Mexican cult of “Day Of The Dead” with colorful wall paintings and big, black, adorned lamps, which creates a unique and vibrant atmosphere. You should at last get one of their delicious mojito pitchers with some tacos (the guacamole will be prepared freshly at your desk!). Toronto Photo Diary

Some weeks ago, I was lucky enough to visit a good friend in Toronto. It was my first time visiting Canada and I was absolutely stunned by this diverse and interesting city! As already mentioned, what fascinated me most about Toronto was its multi-culture and with that the numerous different experiences you can make in this city. Firstly, there is downtown Toronto, where skyscrapers make you feel like in New York City. Then there is the harbor area nearby the water that gives you a completely different feel and suddenly you’ll find yourself in Kensington, with an original Berlin Döner store and all kinds of foods form around the world. This vast mix of different cultures and sharing of their cultural values is what makes Toronto so really unique and exciting. What to pack

Coffee in Toronto: Dineen

One thing is for sure: Toronto is a coffee-loving city and we are more than happy about it! One of my favorite coffee spots is Dineen, located downtown in the financial district. I love the cafe’s distinct interior – it is both cozy and very sophisticated. I also appreciate the nice “milk bar”, just a table with different sorts of milk and sugar but arranged in a super lovely way with some flowers and silver covers for the milk cartons. During the week the place will probably always be crowded but still you’ll get your coffee outright. Brunch in Toronto: Maman

When I was in Toronto a few weeks ago, I had the best Saturday morning with a delicious brunch and little chat with one of the founders of the Maman Café. The story behind the two French-inspired cafés situated in New York and Toronto is five friends, each with different backgrounds in terms of fields of study, uniting and deciding to open a café as an attempt to bring some Parisian feeling into the Big Apple. All I can say is, that they definitely succeeded. As soon as I tasted their freshly made madeleines and financiers, I was transported back to the times when I entered my favorite café on Rue des Abbesses for a coffee and a petit truc sucré. We ended up talking in French and chatting about my time living in Montmatre, about what it means to run a café in such a cosmopolitan city and how different it can be from Paris. I can only highly recommend the matcha pancakes, a combination that I have never tasted like this before and was heaven for me as a green tea lover. …
