White and Burgundy

A lovely Amsterdam Girls Weekend came to an end this morning but we got so many pictures and impressions to share with you – blogpost overflow for sure!

These pictures we took a few weeks ago when Jana was on a visit in Berlin and it was so much fun hanging around the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin. Their shop, filled with so many good coffee books, is just a sensation.

Your Inner Bond Girl

I don’t know why and I don’t know how this came, but since years I’m a huge James Bond fan. I love the movies and all the fuss about it (yes, speaking of the new James Bond movie hitting the cinemas this year).

Last week they released a teaser for Spectre and I honestly watched it about five times. Daniel Craig is a great Bond and Christoph Waltz will probably blow our minds away as the bad guy.

But besides bad guy good guy and a lot of action there is another very important aspect that marks the history of James Bond: the Bond Girls! A long list of victims, opponents, spies, playmates and heroines. All giving the right amount of sex appeal and coolness to the movies. Who wouldn’t want to be a Bond Girl?

And guess what now everyone can challenge their inner Bond Girl with the new 007 FOR WOMEN fragrance. Just released this year it is the perfect counterpart to the men version and leaves us longing for more glamour and seduction.

Following we want to share with you our favorite Bond Girls. It was hard to break down a list of favorite girls but here we are, sharing with you our three of the best Bond Girls (the list would have been longer if I haven’t decided to make a choice of three).

Bikini Berlin

Bikini Berlin is a shopping center of another kind, a so-called concept mall. It features young, independent, critically chosen brands who should suit customers who are longing for a different experience from high-street brands.

The salesrooms predominantly offer fashion and design items as well as some cafés and bars.

The Bikini Berlin boxes are twenty shops that can be rented for the maximum duration of one year, in order to surprise the customer with a new experience every once in a while. Brands who are brave and flexible enough are welcome to test new retail concepts for a comparatively short period.

Drinks in Berlin: Monkey Berlin

The Monkey Bar is another hotspot situated in the west of Berlin.

It has a gorgeous view through all it’s wide glass windows and is aptly named “Monkey Bar”, since you are able to observe the monkeys of the Berlin Zoo from up there.

The Monkey bar serves delicious drinks (try the Gin Basil Smash or the homemade lemonade) and some bar snacks like sweet potato fries or Caesar salad.

However, here’s a fair warning: the Monkey Bar has been recommended in many travel guides thus it tends to be really crowded on weekends and nights in general. So either decide to go early or schedule a bit of waiting time – the view and atmosphere is worth it.

Eugene Onegin

We both are hopeless lovers of classical Ballet and try to see a performance whenever we get the opportunity.

Recently, we saw the interpretation of “Onegin” by the Berliner Staatsballett (choreography by John Cranko) and we both agreed that it was one of the best performances we ever saw in Berlin. The characters were very well danced and also played with an expressiveness that has been unmatched so far.

As far as we know there is still another performance taking place in April, so if you are interested in dancing, we can only warmly recommend not to miss it.

A day at the museum

A sunny day in Berlin’s museum district but still with a little chill due to low temperatures. We are longing for summer now!

If you visit Berlin make sure to head to the Gemäldegalerie. Its one of those calm places where you can enjoy a lovely morning. Best time to visit? Tuesday morning around 10am – much more relaxed than other big museums in Europe.

Coffee in Berlin: Café Neundrei

A couple of days ago I attended the opening of the Café Neundrei a place where you will find delicious coffee and vegan treats. Since more people are becoming aware of their daily nutrition we love to share this location with you.

For your coffee you can choose between normal milk, soya milk, lactose-free milk and almond milk (coasting 50cents extra). Also, next to the normal coffee treats, you will be able to find Matcha Latte (€ 3.80), Chai Latte (€ 3.20) and some Superfood Smoothies (€ 4.50).

Along with a delicious coffee you should definitely enjoy a vegan bread with fresh filling such as avocado, spinach leaves and cress (starting at € 3.90). Also their vegan apple cake or their banana bread is worth a try – a freshly baked by themselves.

Porcelain Flower Dress

Home sweet home. There is no place like Berlin and no better thing than being home for a few days to spend quality time with my favorite blog partner.

Some days ago, we finally managed to visit the Mario Testing “In Your Face” exhibition in Berlin. Mario Testino is definitely the pop star of fashion photography and his shots always capture extraordinary moments in the sparkling world of celebrities.

Superfoods

Nowadays, healthy food has become a trend. You are overwhelmed by the media with buzzwords like “detox”, “superfood”, “gluten free” or “vegan”. However, what does this even mean? And how to find the right balance in your life when it comes to food?

Because, in my opinion, it’s all about balance. You’ll never be happy in life without a little treat sometimes and without a cheat day during your week. Sticking to a strict diet plan is not only unhealthy, it can also lead to serious eating disorders.

With this post, we do not want to tell you what is right or wrong in eating – we are surely no experts in the field. We just informed ourselves a little about those so-called superfoods and wanted to share the knowledge with you.

So, what is superfood?

Superfood first of all is a marketing term, created to promote healthy food. However, there is something true about the term: superfood basically describes food that contains much nutrition thus is supposed to be good for your body. Nevertheless, eating as much superfoods as you can does not mean that you will be a super healthy person afterwards. Most of these should just be used as small proportional ingredients, for example only a small amount of goji berries in your daily muesli/ granola.

What are examples of superfoods?

Generally, the following ingredients are considered as “superfoods”:

Blueberries
Cranberries
Gojiberries
Acai Berry
Pomegranate
Dragon Fruit
Walnuts Nuts&seeds
Quinoa
Whole grains
Kale
Spinach
Broccoli

In the ende it can be said that it is always nice to add these ingredients to your diet and spice up your dishes from time to time.

Nevertheless this does not mean that you must always prefer those foods to others. It does not mean that broccoli out of a sudden is healthier than green asparagus, or blueberries healthier than raspberries.

In the end it all comes down to learning to listen to your own body and what you feel works best for you. Your food is supposed to give you strength and energy, so listen to your body and you will find your healthy way all on your own.
