Lunch in Berlin: Mmaah

The past weekend I had the chance to attend the opening event of Mmaah, a Korean BBQ bistro located in Berlin Neukölln. After opening their first venue close to the underground station Boddinstraße the two owners have made another step with this opening. To be honest I have never tried Korean food and was more than thrilled to give it a try. In the pictures you can see the Mandu, Korean dough bags, and the Mmaah BBQ Potatoes. Both absolutely delicious! A small dish coasts € 4,50 and an XL one € 7,50 – all served with rice and fresh salad. As a drink I had a hot Mmaah ginger tea which was so warming and healthy, costing € 3,00. Drinks and Dinner in Berlin: Grace at Hotel Zoo

Berlin has a new hotspot – the Grace Bar and Restaurant at the Hotel Zoo. The Grace opened its doors 10. January 2015 and offers a “Drinking and Dining” concept that unites foreign and traditional flavors into an exceptional culinary experience. Apart from the superior quality of Grace’s food and drinks, the location has a unique atmosphere and interior design, created by well-known designer Dayna Lee from New York/ LA. We can warmly recommend the excellent “Whiskey Sour” or “Wild Berry Punch” (non-alcoholic and made with fresh wild berries). check availability and book a room here Hotel Zoo Kurfürstendamm 25 10719 Berlin What To Wear to this location

Breakfast in Berlin: Barcomi’s

Cynthia Barcomi was born in Seattle and moved to Berlin in 1985 after she finished her studies at the Columbia University in New York City. She opened her first coffee roasters and bakery in 1994, the second one followed in 1997. This time she decided to open a Deli in Berlin-Mitte serving fresh cakes, cookies, bagels and delicious coffee. Before Christmas my Mum and I had breakfast at this place and really loved it. I ate Barcomi’s Granola (€ 4,50) while my Mum enjoyed a NY special bagel with smoked salmon and onions (€ 6,70). For drinks we had Chai Tea (€ 3,60) and a fresh ginger tea with honey (€ 3,20). Not that cheap but worth the price. If you want to go to this place be early or make a reservation beforehand – just to be on the save side. Coffee in Berlin: SUPERMARKET

Located on the top of the new mall, Bikini Berlin, you will find this beautiful concept space. SUPERMARKET offers design pieces, fashion and some delicious food. So, not only can you enjoy some really delicious coffee, you are also able to shop some super cool pieces for your home. The other day I was able to spend some short but intense time there. The coffee was really good and therefore it was okay to pay € 3,60 for it. If you are a fan of soy milk, you can also add this to your coffee for € 0,30 on top. Next time I really want to try one of their juice cocktails e.g. Good morning Berlin (grapefruit, orange, raspberry, chili) or Vitamine Release (carrot, orange, apple, olive oil). Coasting between € 4,60 and € 6,50. For the cake I payed around € 3,80 – not cheap but really yummy. Sometime you need to treat yourself with something. They also serve lunch and dinner, but that will be worth another post. Price $$$$$ // Service ☆☆☆☆☆ …

Lunch in Berlin: TheEats

The newest shopping addition around Zoologischer Garten is the concept mall Bikini Berlin, “..filled with a collection of carefully curated and compatible boutiques”. Of course there have to be some culinary destinations around the mall and one of them is TheEats – a deli, restaurant, bar and terrace extending over three floors. With my fellow student Swenja I met for lunch at their deli, located on the ground floor (restaurant and bar are a both). They serve a lot of different dishes. You can chose between pizza (also quarters or half ones), pasta (starting at € 6,50), sushi, salads and burgers with sweet potatoes (€ 9,50). We both went for their salad offer. From a variety of salads you were able to choose four different ones, costing € 6,50 in total. In addition you could add meet, chicken, vegan or fish bites – each costing € 1,00 extra. It’s nice to put your own dish together! Breakfast is also available. However it wasn’t that easy to understand their system but you can certainly ask their staff for help. …

Lunch in Berlin: NU

This place isn’t new to us but we still love coming here and enjoy a delicious lunch. The NU Restaurant is located in Berlin Charlottenburg which you can reach easily by train (S-Bahn Station: Savignyplatz). They serve really good Asian food and each week you can find their new Lunch menu online. This makes it a little easier to plan your visit. You can choose between three different Lunch menus every day (Monday to Friday). Each main dish is served with a starter of your choice (mainly soups or a salad). As a starter I enjoyed a Tom Ka Gai soup and as a main dish I went for a chicken curry with rice, potatoes, carrots and coconut milk. For everything I payed € 7,50 and was more than satisfied. Dinner in Berlin: Cơm Á

This restaurant brought me to the district Kreuzberg in Berlin. It’s located on the Oranienstraße and pretty easy to reach by bus or subway (unless it’s 1st of May). You can choose between Vietnamese dishes from the grill, Japanese sushis and Cambodian salads. I went for a grilled chicken dish served with fresh salad (loved the avocado in it) and rice, costing € 8,50. My boyfriend decided to eat grilled beef rump with salad and rice as well (€ 9,90). The sushis you see in the pictures were eight Ebi Chumakis (shrimps, cucumber, rocket salad and cream cheese) for € 4,40. As drinks we had Chanh Da, which I would always go for when having asian dinner or lunch. Coffee in Berlin: Le Johann Rose

A sunny day in town and a short trip to Kreuzberg, thats how Sundays always should look like. A dance performance of a friend brought me into that direction. On my way to the venue I came across this little café called La Johann Rose and decided to have a quick coffee stop there. The inside is charmingly decorated, kitsch and vintage pieces are the main things you will find along with some patterned wallpapers and fresh flowers on the table. A Latté Macchiato costs € 2,80 (To Go € 2,00) and is served in a full glas with delicious foam. Along with that I enjoyed a banana nut bread slice, which was so fluffy and costs € 2,00. If you are looking for other sweat treats you can choose between some other freshly made cakes, brownies (one € 2,00), ice-cream and vegan spelt waffles (starting at € 3,60). If you are looking for lunch, you will also be able to find something here. They serve soups and other little dishes. Afterwards just stroll through the …

Lunch in Berlin: Die Kantine

When you start thinking of a canteen, what comes to your mind? Dark big halls, unhealthy food and a lot of noise? Certainly most of us remember the school or university canteen. However nowadays you can see that more people start to think about what they eat, certainly from a positive point of view. When one hears that more than 80% of health problems comes through wrong nutrition it definitely is time to rethink. But back to the subject. Having lunch in Berlin is in our opinion not that hard anymore. Many places have opened over the past years and this one is worth a try. Die Kantine (The Canteen) is a place for lunch in Berlin Mitte. The building was designed by David Chipperfield, a well-known architect, and is an addition to their architectural office in Berlin. The exposed concrete and the huge sliding windows give the whole atmosphere an own expression and fit into the minimal design and architecture practiced by Chipperfield. If you come along for Lunch you maybe should reserve a …
