Five Things About Dancing in New York

When Jana stayed in New York for an internship I took the chance the join her for six weeks and follow my passion: dancing. It was an amazing time and I have learned so much from taking this step. In a short list I have collected the five things you should always keep in mind when thinking about doing the same thing. 1. Everyone wants to make it in New York. Thus it is very tough working in this city as a dancer. There are so many talented people around who are working their ass off to make it here (this actually fits into every job area in NYC). 2. Dance classes are expensive in New York. An average class (any dance style) costs between 18 und 20 bucks. Not something you can afford on an everyday basis for such a long time. 3. Be prepared that in every class someone is better than you. For me it always was a motivation to become better, train harder and watch them how they work. But I …

Culture in Amsterdam: La Dame Aux Camélias

Going out to see a Ballet performance is one of our favorite things to do together. So of course we couldn’t miss the beautiful performance of “La Dame Aux Camélias” by the Het National Ballet. The performance was breath-taking, we were so captivated by the exceptional choreography, which displayed very powerful, emotional moves. Apart from this, the National Opera and Ballet of Amsterdam is an extraordinary building with a view on the canals at sunset. Boots – Zara Jacket – H&M Bag – Louis Vuitton

Eugene Onegin

We both are hopeless lovers of classical Ballet and try to see a performance whenever we get the opportunity. Recently, we saw the interpretation of “Onegin” by the Berliner Staatsballett (choreography by John Cranko) and we both agreed that it was one of the best performances we ever saw in Berlin. The characters were very well danced and also played with an expressiveness that has been unmatched so far. As far as we know there is still another performance taking place in April, so if you are interested in dancing, we can only warmly recommend not to miss it. Dance Christmas Calendar 2014

This year the traditional Dance Christmas Calendar is a little different. We decided to share pictures which we snapped over the whole year and combine these with current pictures. Which is why you will find stage snaps and training sessions, indoor work and outdoor fun. Find the whole calendar on Ballettstudio Marita Erxleben.

Soft Lights in Paris

I got to meet Dean from PickledThoughts on a very early morning in the centre of Paris, near to Ile de la Cité. Dean has this incredible capability of capturing beautiful morning light, which you can definitely recognize in these shots from near the Seine. We hope you like the results and be sure to stay tuned for more common projects. Dress – H&M Pointe Shoes – Gaynor Minden

“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.”

On Thursday I finally met Dean from PickledThoughts. A very talented and vibrant photographer based in Berlin who was looking for a dancer to take some snaps with. The little photo-session turned out to be a super great morning in Berlin. Normally I am unhappy with dancing pictures of myself but these have truly captured my heart since they show me as a person, who I really am and what my passion is. I’m faraway from being a perfect dancer, which is certainly why I love dancing so much: you will never reach the finish line. Always find something to work on, to improve. Dancing is certainly never easy and for me just half the effort is not enough. I really push myself to a limit. Normally I train 5 times a week and on the weekend do my own home workout. Told you… always on the run. Check Deans official page for some more pictures taken by him! We will be working on more fun projects together.

Open Air Theatre Night

Yesterday, we had a very lovely night at the open air performance of Romeo&Juliet. No matter how often one sees this pieces, it will always have magic about it! For this casual summer night out, I wore a red lace shirt and some ripped white shorts with flat sandals, a combination that fits well numerous occasions!
