On the beginning of this week I was lucky enough to attend the lovely CAPTION nail polish event here in Amsterdam. It was a fun night full of girl’s talk, nail polish and sweets! I have to say – I am absolutely stunned by the result of the three layers nail polish (base, color, top coat). It looks like the nails were gel and lasts for several days without any cracks!
This year, the Lavera Showfloor started with an opening show with prominent guests like Elisa Sednaoui, Elisabetta Canalis and Evelyn Hall. The opening show featured Danish designer Ann Wiberg, showing beautiful her “trash couture” made out of antique fabrics, laces, beads and embroideries. The entire collection is sewn in her own atelier in Copenhagen and is destined to minimize waste and give a second life to pre-worn pieces of fabrics. Ann Wiberg is one of few designers who offer individualized services for designing a unique gown for a special event, wedding etc. Her couture is both “poetic and contemporary”.

Here are some summer essentials we cannot live without at the moment. I love my super comfy Birkenstock sandals- my feet can relax and also style does not have to suffer, with their silver design the sandals are fashionable and laid-back at the same time. Apart from that I have a weak side for fresh summer perfumes thus I had to have the new See by Chloé fragrance, which will accompany me throughout the summer. Of course, a flower printed bikini also could not be missing in this equation! I love this one from H&M.
Even though MAC always had some kind of fascination when I come to make-up, it took me until now to acquire some products myself. Past weekend I had an appointment at the store in order to find out colors which are suiting me best and to get a first insight to how correctly applying MAC make-up works. The good thing? I found a new hobby. The bad thing? I would need a MAC loan to cover the costs… Until then, I made a start with a basic eyeshadow palette in nude colors and a bright pink lipstick.
Summer seems to be there now and it’s the season when you really want to feel good and happy. An inner balance is the first step and then there is of course the outer shell which needs some polishing and pampering. On Sunday’s I really like to stay at home and relax. You can somehow really let the week come to an end and find some energy for the one coming up. No surprise that I still somehow always find something to do around my room. From time to time it is quite important to “clean-up” your possessions. And there I mean: grab a bin and throw something in! It’s nice to have a good amount of make-up at home but if the bath is out-ruled by those products it’s time to say bye bye to some of them. And then, unexpectedly, you dig out some things you haven’t thought of anymore. Happened to me with this Dior Rouge pallet. Can’t wait to put some on for spring! We already have reached April but the weather is nothing like that. Today actually the sun is shining for a change. Still I like staying in and cuddle myself into a fluffy scarf and open the window for some fresh air in the room. It helps …

Dear Readers, We are often asked for our personal beauty tips so here’s a small beauty post especially for you. Well, however I have to disappoint you – I do not use many beauty products at all. I treat my hair with John Frieda as well as Wella Professional Shampoo and I really like Rituals products in summer. There’s not much that touches my facial skin, except for a light Vichy Creme and some make up removing milk. I try to always remove my eye make up- regardless on how tired I might be! I cannot say much except for feeling and looking healthy starts with healthy food and never taking to much of a thing!
