Lunch in Washington: SKWR

Since my trip to Washington was just limited to one day, I had to choose in advance where I want to enjoy a good lunch. While searching I came across this place called SKWR kabobline where they serve the eastern art of kabob. At the beginning you choose between bowl (with rice) or wrap and then you start refine it: spreads (e.g. Hummus, Chutney), proteins (e.g. chicken, steak, lamb), toppings (e.g. chickpeas, mint) and sauces (e.g. pesto peste). Everything is freshly prepared and served with love. The meat is tender, the sauces diverse and the toppings delicious. Culture in Washington: National Gallery of Art

Through my Art History studies I knew that the National Gallery of Art in Washington had a lot of art but when I walked through the breath-taking building I was still mesmerized. The whole museum is so beautifully arranged and the pieces are delicately hanged or placed in the rooms. For a art fan a true bliss! But most of all I was fascinated by the East and West Garden Court – a tropical oasis were I just could have stayed forever. And best part? All of this is for f r e e! If you want to visit this museum make sure to plan your day around it. It takes time but is certainly worth it. Washington Photo Diary

Staying in New York for a little longer gave me the chance to travel to Washington D.C. for one day (first note to myself and everyone out there: one day is way too short for this city!). After reading Dan Browns “The Lost Symbol” I was just longing to visit this city. My boyfriend and I took the bus from New York straight to Washington which took about 4,5 hours – long journey but it was the cheapest fare. We reached the Union Station around 10am and wanted to drive back from here around 7pm. Luckily most time of the day we didn’t have any rain and were therefore able to walk A LOT (my legs were dying at the end of the day!). But it was absolutely worth it. The city is amazing! So much to see, so much to explore. What stunned me the most was the Lincoln Memorial, the Library of Congress and the National Art Gallery (post about this coming soon). If you ever get the chance to visit this city I can just highly recommend it to you …
