Haferkater in Berlin

Frühstück in Berlin: Haferkater

Bananenbrot!). HaferkaterEberswalder Straße 2610437 Berlin Montag …

Lunch in Berlin: Café Oliv / Oliv Eat

Whereas Café Oliv in Münzstraße is already established in Berlin Mitte for a while, now the second café/restaurant of the two owners opened at Potsdamer Straße. Last week, we checked out both locations. Both are stylish in a minimalistic way – the color oliv is like a red thread and pops up every now and then, for example in form of the beautiful chairs in Oliv Eat. The food is similarly simple but delicious: I enjoyed some pasta with asparagus, peas and some very light white wine sauce – it was a perfect lunch dish! Shopping in Berlin: Schee

I love to discover new little boutiques and shops in my neighborhood. One store that I recently stumbled across is Schee, located in Bleibtreustraße. So we went to check it out last weekend. The store is a lovely mix of interior and decoration accessories, cards and books, prints and textiles. In my opinion one of the addresses to go for when you’re searching for a present for a friend or family member! We really liked how elaborate and carefully selected the selection of items was – every piece was special! They also have another store in Berlin located at Rosenthaler Straße (close to the underground station Rosenthaler Platz, Mitte). We definitely want to visit that one too. Coffee in Berlin: earlybean

Last week we tried this coffee spot called earlybean, located in Berlin Charlottenburg at the Meyerinckplatz. It’s a small café severing freshly brewed coffee and small dishes such as salmon bagels and yoghurt with granola. The atmosphere is cozy and you can easily sit here for one or two hours. Besides the hot beverages, you can also indulge in one of their freshly made smoothies. We haven’t tried those yet because it was just too cold that morning but are happy to come back and give them a shot. Beauty in Berlin: Shan’s Beauty

A couple of days ago, we spent a more than lovely morning at Shan’s True Beauty Lounge, situated directly at Kurfürstendamm. We really loved that, finally, there’s a similar concept in Berlin as the New York one, which are “blow dry” bars, where you can go and let your hair be washed and styled so that you can start the day right! Apart from the brilliant hairstyling we also got some beautiful manicures. There is a variety of nail polishes to choose from – all lovely colors. Altogether, we can only recommend to check out Shan’s Beauty Lounge if you have a minute, you can just walk in without an appointment! The prices are also moderate – you’ll get a manicure with nail polish for 20€ and a blow dry for 35€. Brunch in Berlin: Rose Garden

Newest addition to the Berlin brunch scene and personal project: Rose Garden. Rose Garden is a deli & concept store situated directly at Torstraße / Alte Schönhauser Straße. The deli offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and since a couple of weeks also dinner (we will give you another insight on that one too). Coffee in Berlin: Doppio Pazzo

Do you know this feeling when you walk through your neighborhood and spot something new that seems worth a visit? This just happened to us when we spotted Doppio Pazzo, a small café serving delicious coffee and various cakes, pastries, salads and breakfast treats. The clean interior kept in black, white and grey radiates a calm atmosphere and you can easily stay here for one or two hours. The coffee was served quickly, hot and had a delicious flavor (they seem to use a good type of bean). The coffee is a bit more expensive, soy and almond milk cost extra but its worth the price. We had the chance to try their overnight oats which are which are gluten- and sugar free. You can enjoy this healthy snack there or as take-away. Rose Garden Berlin

The last weeks have been quiet on Midnight Couture – life happened and we couldn’t do much about it! We have both been working on some amazing projects, some of them were more demanding and since blogging can be considered a full-time job nowadays, that’s why there has been a lack of posts! However, I’m quite proud to announce that the project I’ve been working on more than one year now is called Rose Garden – a deli & concept store in Berlin Mitte. I’ve been involved in the whole creative process of this project, being responsible for interior design, conception, marketing, social media and press work. Since a couple of days, our store set-up is finally ready and we are already opening our doors from time to time to let the team warm up. There will soon be more posts about Rose Garden and I will announce our official opening date! Until then, feel free to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to get more updates of my work – @rosegardenberlin – I happy …

Culture in Berlin: Canova und der Tanz

Rainy weekend days are made for visiting the museum and Berlin just offers such a great variety. Since a few weeks the Bode Museum is hosting the exhibition “Canova und der Tanz” (Canova and the dance). This exhibition features works of the Italian neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova. As a special highlight they offer guided tours (approx. 60 minutes long) with a little performance of a corps de ballet dancer from the Staatsballett Berlin (this could have been a little longer in my opinion). The ballet dancer also wears a recreation of the dress worn by the Canovas famous sculpture “The Dancer” and you somehow visualize the whole scenery on how the sculptor created this piece. These tours are limited and you certainly need to book a ticket in advance however the exhibition is also worth a visit without the tour.
