Book Recommendation: Grace

She is one of the most inspiring persons in the universe of fashion and a fascinating character – Grace Coddington. I have always been inspired by her work by just how brilliant she is when it comes to create magic photoshoots that seem to jump at you from the pages of Vogue. Now, we can read about her story in and out in Grace- “A Memoir”.

Goodbye 2013

When it comes down to prepare this post we always think “What happened to this year?!”. Somehow it comes really slowly, the end of one year and the beginning of a new one. However it still always feels as if we have created this post just a few days ago. And now we do it again. One year, gone so fast and with it so many memories to keep in mind. What has been most memorable then? Here a little list which is really just captures some things

We traveled a lot this year – Amsterdam, London, Praha, Palma de Mallorca, Madeira, Weimar, Istanbul, Paris, Roma and Venice. We hope to be able to add some more beautiful places to our list in the next year. Traveling is such a passion, you ca never get enough of it.

We have done an interview with the Tagesspiegel about Midnight Couture. Additionally we also joined the BlogStars and Stylight blogger network. So many opportunities have come along and we are so grateful for it. And you made this actually possible. BIG THANK YOU for that!

Thanks to lovely Thea and Antonia we did two series for the SisterMag Magazine which was a lot of fun. In one Vanessa headed to Berlin for some ballet snaps and for the other one we were the photographers ourselves.

Oliver from Hotel Concorde added us to his blogger list. Which is why we got the chance to do an exclusive City West Shopping Guide for their Hotel Concorde Blog. Followed by a delicious dinner at their restaurant and a French Tea Time get-together in December.

In June we performed as leading roles in our annual studio ballet called “Peterchens Mondfahrt”. It was truly special for us and we have put a lot of hard work into this project. In the ned it was so worth it!

As a special holiday comes along we love to do some specials. This year we did three together with Johannes and Michael. Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Moments we will definitely never forget!

We were able to work together with some great partners such as Emeza, Harrods, Zalando, Caseable, SwayChic and AxParis. Let’s see what we are up to next year.

Little (not anymore) Enya came into our lives. Jana’s dog turned the world somehow upside down as strange as it sounds.

If there is an image that as caught your interest, click on it and you will be able to see the whole post with all the other pictures. This is really just a small selection of the pictures we took this year. We together took about 9000 photos this year. New year’s resolution? Clean up the hard disk!

5 Healthy Holiday Eating Tips

Here’s a post about food and healthy eating and we’re sure you will love! So, here comes the deal and some tips for you …

The holiday season is upon us, and all over the world this tends to mean that December and January become a time of decadence. Hearty feasts, sweet desserts, and perhaps a few extra spirits tend to be in order this time of year, and in the name of festivity it’s all well and good. Part of the beauty of the holidays is that we all “let go” a little bit and indulge in some treats and pleasures we don’t ordinarily enjoy on a regular basis. However, that’s no reason to forsake your health entirely during the holiday season! So, if you’re looking for a bit of healthier holiday eating, her are 5 tips we’d recommend considering. Happy holidays!

1. Eat Before Shopping
This is an absolutely brilliant tip from Real Simple that can solve a lot of typical diet issues that occur during the holidays. Simply put, a lot of us are susceptible to treats and unhealthy meals while shopping. You may be navigating a shopping mall and stop for a milkshake or Cinnabon treat, or you may sit down to a larger meal than you normally eat in the afternoon. Eating at home before shopping can eliminate this issue by filling you up beforehand!

2. Keep Healthy Snacks Around
Here’s the thing about the holiday season: you’ll almost certainly have unhealthy treats around. Neighbors might bring you cookies, family may send treats, etc. So try to counter the inevitable supply of sweets with some healthy snacks in the house. Readymade vegetable platters with dip are always good choices, and stocking up on fruit can give you something sweet that’s a bit healthier.

3. Lean Toward Wine
There’s always a tendency to enjoy a few drinks during the holidays, and of course wine, beer and spirits are all on the menu. But if you’re trying to be healthy, try to lean toward wine. Not only is a glass of red wine in moderation good for you, but wine can be sipped and enjoyed over time. With spirits and beer you’re more likely to drink a bit more, and thus ingest a few too many calories!

4. Pick Up A Vegetarian Cookbook
There’s certainly nothing unhealthy about meat, so long as it’s of a high quality and prepared well, and consumed in some moderation. But the holidays often involve several big, heavy, rich meaty meals – and you can counteract this by looking through some vegetarian recipes. Marks and Spencer have a few nice selections, with “Super Charged Food” being a particularly good choice for healthy recipes.

5. Enjoy Hot Chocolate
As far as sweet and treats go, hot chocolate is actually fairly harmless. A dark chocolate mix with either hot water or heated milk (depending on preference) is a fairly tame treat that will keep you warm and satisfied in the cold holiday season. If you’re tempted by desserts, this is one to focus on!

What to wear for a Christmas Brunch

We all know what Holiday season sometimes can turn into – a stressful marathon of dressing up appropriate to every occasion possible. That is why we thought it would be nice to have a little guide what to wear for different festivities during Holiday season!

Firstly, we thought a cozy sweater with a statement necklace and leggings would fit perfectly to a Christmas Brunch among friends and family.

Sweater – Mint&Berry (found on Zalando)
Necklace – H&M

Midnight Couture wishes a Merry Christmas!

It has grown to be our little tradition to surprise our readers with a special shooting each year for Christmas! This time our pictures involve a lot of joy and movement- we have never been fans of stiff pictures and due to our common history as dancers we somehow can only flourish when we are on the move!

What is more, this year we have been supported by numerous people and we are very thankful for everything! Thanks to the marvelous photographers team of Johannes Räbel and Reinhardt&Sommer for gorgeous shots and the right equipment. Thank you very much Zalando for providing us with the latest fashion for the shoot. Last but not least a big thank you to Calma Hotel in Berlin Mitte for the location!

Dance Christmas Calendar 2013

Already last year I did a Dance Christmas Calendar for the Dance Academy we are dancing and training with. Since it was such a great success we somehow made it to a little tradition now. So, here are now some of the pictures from our this years calendar. If you want to see the rest check Dance Academy Marita Erxleben on Facebook.

Picture number 4 and 8 are taken by Johannes from JFRcreatives because I’m in the pictures myself. Thanks for that man.

French Tea Time

Yesterday, we gladly accepted an invitation to our first French Tea time ever at Concorde Hotel Berlin. We surely knew the old tradition of English Tea but we have never experienced the French version up until now!

One thing we can tell for sure- it was more than delicious and involved for example freshly made apricot macarons, madeleines and the finest jasmine tea ever! Thank you so much for having us, we are already excited for the next event that may come up.
