Brunch in Amsterdam: CT Coffee and Coconuts

The building was a former cinema, build in the roaring twenties and you may see it – the place has a crazy interior of different levels and big black white photographs on the walls refer to movie stars and personalities with a cult status. CT Coffee&Coconuts is one of the best brunch places in Amsterdam. Apart from its cool interior that has something exotic the café serves delicious coffee and homemade tasty food. We can only highly recommend the full CT breakfast, which is a selection of all available breakfast specialities. You’ll get coconut pancake, a small granola, bread with avocado and eggs and mature dutch cheese. You’ll love it, we promise! Superfoods

Nowadays, healthy food has become a trend. You are overwhelmed by the media with buzzwords like “detox”, “superfood”, “gluten free” or “vegan”. However, what does this even mean? And how to find the right balance in your life when it comes to food? Because, in my opinion, it’s all about balance. You’ll never be happy in life without a little treat sometimes and without a cheat day during your week. Sticking to a strict diet plan is not only unhealthy, it can also lead to serious eating disorders. We just informed ourselves a little about those so-called superfoods and wanted to share the knowledge with you. So, what is superfood? Superfood first of all is a marketing term, created to promote healthy food. However, there is something true about the term: superfood basically describes food that contains much nutrition thus is supposed to be good for your body. Nevertheless, eating as …

Brunch in Berlin: Spreegold

Sundays are made for late and long breakfast/brunch sessions. Yesterday I headed to the under Berlin inhabitants pretty well-known Spreegold where they serve fresh food and drinks all day long. However I was keen on trying their breakfast and honestly, it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ate the Spreegold’s Brunch “The Best” plate (€ 18,50) and had a Green Mint Iced Tea (€ 3,80) as a refreshment. I had a bowl of whole milk yoghurt with granola and fresh fruits (€ 4,50) as well as Buttermilk pancakes with fruits, sour cream and maple syrup (€ 7,90). As a drink I just ordered a plain Caffé Latte (€ 3,50). All in all it was really yummy but as you can see what each dish and drink costs you can tell what we payed for it in total. Not a weekly indulgence! Of course you can also choose something different from the menu but mainly the breakfast plates start at € 7,50 and up. Another thing which will give this spot a tiny minus point was the speed of the staff. Two guys were running …

Lunch in Berlin: Mmaah

The past weekend I had the chance to attend the opening event of Mmaah, a Korean BBQ bistro located in Berlin Neukölln. After opening their first venue close to the underground station Boddinstraße the two owners have made another step with this opening. To be honest I have never tried Korean food and was more than thrilled to give it a try. In the pictures you can see the Mandu, Korean dough bags, and the Mmaah BBQ Potatoes. Both absolutely delicious! A small dish coasts € 4,50 and an XL one € 7,50 – all served with rice and fresh salad. As a drink I had a hot Mmaah ginger tea which was so warming and healthy, costing € 3,00. Breakfast in Oxford: The Grand Café

The Grand Café in Oxford is a place I can warmly recommend. We went there for breakfast and were just stunned by the beautiful, opulence interior. During the day they serve breakfast, lunch, cream teas and high teas. In the evening you will be able to enjoy some cocktails with locals and University students. According to Samuel Pepys’ Diary (1650), The Grand Café is the site of the first coffee house in England and now an Oxford institution. In the pictures you can see the Scrambled eggs on toast (£4.95), the Grand English breakfast (£8.50) and two Lattes (each £3.25). It was all absolutely delicious! Breakfast in Berlin: Barcomi’s

Cynthia Barcomi was born in Seattle and moved to Berlin in 1985 after she finished her studies at the Columbia University in New York City. She opened her first coffee roasters and bakery in 1994, the second one followed in 1997. This time she decided to open a Deli in Berlin-Mitte serving fresh cakes, cookies, bagels and delicious coffee. Before Christmas my Mum and I had breakfast at this place and really loved it. I ate Barcomi’s Granola (€ 4,50) while my Mum enjoyed a NY special bagel with smoked salmon and onions (€ 6,70). For drinks we had Chai Tea (€ 3,60) and a fresh ginger tea with honey (€ 3,20). Not that cheap but worth the price. If you want to go to this place be early or make a reservation beforehand – just to be on the save side.
