Amsterdam Photo Diary

After a super fun girls weekend together in Amsterdam there are still so many pictures to share with you. Today we therefore give you another inside look into what we did together. All in all the weather was great which isn’t granted at all. So we took the time to sit in the sun, enjoy some sparkling ice tea and stroll through all those beautiful canals. Also a slice of the best Amsterdam apple cake had to be on our to-do list (find out about this place here).

Lunch in Berlin: Shiso Burger

Already pretty famous in Berlin this is the place for some good (Shiso) Burgers. If you come here you can indulge in some delicious food. During lunch they offer a great deal: you pay the price of the burger plus 3.10 € extra and you will get the burger, fries and a drink. I went for the Cheeseburger, costing 4.60 € – which means in total I paid 7.70 € and was absolutely satisfied after this meal. Only problem if you come here make sure you have enough time. During their busy hours (between 1 and 2pm) it can take up to 45 minutes until the burger is ready. Drinks in Amsterdam: Mata Hari Bar

Mata Hari is a real insider’s tip in Amsterdam. The bar is hidden within the red light district and you wouldn’t expect such a cozy and comfortable atmosphere considering the surroundings. The interior consists of vintage furniture and many different antique details, building a casual hang-out setting. Upstairs is the restaurant, offering dishes with an exotic twist. Downstairs in the bar, a extensive drinks menu is awaiting, featuring classics like Moscow mule, different gin tonics or beers. The place is open daily for lunch, dinner and drinks and offers fair trade products whenever it is possible. #MCWorkout: Introduction

This topic has been on our list for a long time and we finally found the courage to pick it up on our blog: it’s time to work out! From time to time we will create some posts which will run under the hashtag #MCWorkout. These will show you our routines, inspire and motivate you. But first things first. We have collected five facts for you which you should always keep in mind. 1. Miracles don’t happen over night Getting in shape is never ever easy and certainly not something that can happen in 24 hours. 2. Every body is different This is also something many people forget about. Some people achieve their goals faster than others. Seems unfaire but it all depends on your own will power. 3. Sport means sweating Yes, get over it. You will sweat and you face will be red. But hey, thats what it always should be like because afterwards you will feel great and full of energy. 4. Treat yourself Everyone eventually needs a break sometimes. This is probably the hardest part for me and sometimes I really …

Book Recommendation: I’ll drink to that

I‘m lucky to have a good friend, who knows my taste of books and would give one new read to me for my birthday every year. This time, it was “I’ll drink to that” by Betty Halbreich. I have to admit, at first I did not know what to expect and whether it would be interesting to read a whole book about personal shopping. But after just reading three pages, I was hooked and could not stop until I finished the whole book in two nights. Betty Halbreich has that very particular dry, ironic humor that is especially my kind. I often caught myself laughing out loud while reading, which happens rarely. Betty’s stories are exciting, interesting and always have a twist. I feel that those stories are true and written from her heart, what makes them even more authentic and entertaining. I’ll drink to that is not only a book about personal shopping but more about life, its obstacles and how to find happiness thus learn to be content with what one has achieved. Betty has certainly had many exciting …

Dinner in Amsterdam: Cannibale Royal

Before going to the Ballet, we spoiled ourselves with a cozy dinner at Cannibale Royale. The restaurant admittedly has a somehow awkward, ironic name and also the interior design makes you a little uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was familiar, cozy and the food was of high quality – if you love a nice burger or filet steak, this is your place to go! Noon in De Pijp

One of my favorite neighborhoods in Amsterdam is De Pijp. It is one of the hip, cool areas that hosts the Albert Cuyp market every day and has numerous cafés, restaurants and bars to hang out. Especially, the Sarphati Park is a nice place to enjoy the sun and maybe have a pick-nick with delicacies you just shopped at the food market around the corner! Make-Up Essentials

However, we both like to work some small magic with these essential products. Here comes our must-have list: The L’Oréal Skin Perfection cream has a small amount of highlighting particles in there, giving your complexion an instant glow. The Lancôme Miracle Cushion is fresh, handy and easy to use. Simply by pressing the sponge onto the cushion you will get the product. You can choose how much make up you want, depending on how strong you press. And last but not least the Aquasource CC Gel from Biotherm is the perfect day routine. Smooth and easy to apply it will give you an instant glow and you look fresh and healthy without make-up.

Culture in Amsterdam: La Dame Aux Camélias

Going out to see a Ballet performance is one of our favorite things to do together. So of course we couldn’t miss the beautiful performance of “La Dame Aux Camélias” by the Het National Ballet. The performance was breath-taking, we were so captivated by the exceptional choreography, which displayed very powerful, emotional moves. Apart from this, the National Opera and Ballet of Amsterdam is an extraordinary building with a view on the canals at sunset. Boots – Zara Jacket – H&M Bag – Louis Vuitton

Lacoste Blogger Workshop

Some days ago, we were lucky enough to be invited to the Lacoste blogger event in Frankfurt am Main, where their male perfume collection “Eau de Lacoste” was presented. We had an exceptionally lovely day and were welcomed warmly by the team of Headspace PR. What followed was a perfect mix of hanging out with lovely people, enjoying the sun, learning and discovering interesting facts about perfume and indulging a delicious menu. We enjoyed a menu created in all five colors of the fragrance line – blue, red, white, yellow and black. For each course, the table decoration was adjusted so it would fit the color of the respective dish, in order to fortify the colored experience. One of this day’s highlights was that we were able to assist the great cooking team with the two main courses and were especially happy to learn some tips how to prepare the recipes ourselves. Apart from this, a professional color psychologist and the Lacoste perfume developer enlightened the group with intriguing knowledge about scents and their different appeals. All in all, we can tell …
