Café in Potsdam: What Do You Fancy Love?

In Berlin already widely know, you can now also find a What Do You Fancy Love? in Potsdam’s city center. The opening took a little longer than expected. But now you can finally enjoy some fresh pressed juices and various bagels in the Dortustraße. The café is similar furnished and designed like the ones in Berlin, they certainly sticked to their concept of laid-back, simple interior. The first weeks after the opening I still wasn’t so keen on trying it out but figured on a beautiful Sunday the time was here. The coffee and the juice were good. The bagel of my friend was slightly overloaded with cream cheese which made eating it a little tricky (cream cheese squeezing its way out and all over the hands). In total its a nice place to meet with friends to enjoy a coffee or juice. Even though the quality of the coffee wasn’t that outstanding, I would only come back for the juices. Nevertheless you can absolutely enjoy some free time outside during these summer days.     …

Breakfast in Leipzig: Café Luise

During my short trip to Leipzig we had breakfast at Café Luise, a spacious spot offering breakfast, lunch, cake and dinner. You see, an all-rounder. We came here on a Saturday morning and had made a reservation beforehand since we were seven people in total and it wouldn’t have been easy to get a table for that amount of people. If you just want to drop in alone or with a friend you shouldn’t have a problem to get a table with a little wait. It wasn’t full that morning. All of us ordered different dishes. I wasn’t that hungry and decided to just go for some scrambled eggs and a roll. Others decided to try the English breakfast, pancakes or a Swedish breakfast mainly serving fish. Since I jus opt for this simple dish I can’t give you such a detailed insight to their breakfast. It was good but not overwhelming. The other dishes looked good but nothing we haven’t seen already. I somehow missed the little twist and felt everything was a little …

Coffee in Potsdam: Kellermann

Since a long time I was craving for a cute coffee spot in Babelsberg, the area I spend quite a lot of time since the studio in try with is located here. There are many bakeries around but they don’t serve delicious coffee. Close to the subway station there used to be this super tiny coffee store where only two people would fit in to order their beverage. But it was worth the wait since the coffee was super delicious here. And then, someday, it was closed. I was really devastated since I just loved to grab a coffee to go here. A few weeks later a bigger café opened a few meters away and I instantly recognized that it was the same owner. They enlarged their business and now have a big café. This made me super happy and of course I wanted to share the new Kellermann with you. Besides some delicious coffee you can enjoy some fresh baked cakes, sandwiches, frozen yogurt and ice pops. They also offer fresh soups and quiche …

Lunch in Berlin: Café Oliv / Oliv Eat

Whereas Café Oliv in Münzstraße is already established in Berlin Mitte for a while, now the second café/restaurant of the two owners opened at Potsdamer Straße. Last week, we checked out both locations. Both are stylish in a minimalistic way – the color oliv is like a red thread and pops up every now and then, for example in form of the beautiful chairs in Oliv Eat. The food is similarly simple but delicious: I enjoyed some pasta with asparagus, peas and some very light white wine sauce – it was a perfect lunch dish! Breakfast in Potsdam: Zweitwohnsitz

A few friends of mine already recommended this place to me and I was really happy to finally try it last Friday. Zweitwohnsitz (meaning like second home) is a small café located in Potsdam West. The interior is really charming and you feel home instantly. We headed there for breakfast but they also serve various lunch options, filled Pita breads and delicious looking cake (need to come back and try a slice). On a paper you can find various breakfast pieces and a free space to fill in a number of the amount you want. It offers you the chance to put together your own breakfast they way you want it to be. I absolutely loved the coffee because it was a good ground coffee, rich in smell and flavor. Besides normal milk they also offer soy, lactose-free and oat milk (my new favorite milk for coffee). I certainly need to come back since many people recommended me to go there on a Saturday for their brunch buffet. You see, still so many options to …

Rose Garden Berlin

The last weeks have been quiet on Midnight Couture – life happened and we couldn’t do much about it! We have both been working on some amazing projects, some of them were more demanding and since blogging can be considered a full-time job nowadays, that’s why there has been a lack of posts! However, I’m quite proud to announce that the project I’ve been working on more than one year now is called Rose Garden – a deli & concept store in Berlin Mitte. I’ve been involved in the whole creative process of this project, being responsible for interior design, conception, marketing, social media and press work. Since a couple of days, our store set-up is finally ready and we are already opening our doors from time to time to let the team warm up. There will soon be more posts about Rose Garden and I will announce our official opening date! Until then, feel free to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to get more updates of my work – @rosegardenberlin – I happy …

Sweet Treat in Leipzig: Marshalls Mum

During a short weekend get-away to Leipzig I visited this cute litte café serving delicious sweet treats. Marshalls Mum is located in the south of Leipzig and offers a welcoming atmosphere. They are mainly known for their cupcakes (also vegan ones) but also offer fresh cakes, brownies and macaroons. The coffee they serve has a really good flavor and along normal milk they also offer soy and oat milk. If you plan to visit on the weekend I recommend to make a reservation. Price $$$$$ // Service ☆☆☆☆☆ // Location ☆☆☆☆☆ // Taste ☆☆☆☆☆ Marshalls Mum August-Bebel-Straße 1 04275 Leipzig

Brunch in Toronto: Maman

When I was in Toronto a few weeks ago, I had the best Saturday morning with a delicious brunch and little chat with one of the founders of the Maman Café. The story behind the two French-inspired cafés situated in New York and Toronto is five friends, each with different backgrounds in terms of fields of study, uniting and deciding to open a café as an attempt to bring some Parisian feeling into the Big Apple. All I can say is, that they definitely succeeded. As soon as I tasted their freshly made madeleines and financiers, I was transported back to the times when I entered my favorite café on Rue des Abbesses for a coffee and a petit truc sucré. We ended up talking in French and chatting about my time living in Montmatre, about what it means to run a café in such a cosmopolitan city and how different it can be from Paris. I can only highly recommend the matcha pancakes, a combination that I have never tasted like this before and was heaven for me as a green tea lover. …

Coffee in Berlin: Café Neundrei

A couple of days ago I attended the opening of the Café Neundrei a place where you will find delicious coffee and vegan treats. Since more people are becoming aware of their daily nutrition we love to share this location with you. For your coffee you can choose between normal milk, soya milk, lactose-free milk and almond milk (coasting 50cents extra). Also, next to the normal coffee treats, you will be able to find Matcha Latte (€ 3.80), Chai Latte (€ 3.20) and some Superfood Smoothies (€ 4.50). Along with a delicious coffee you should definitely enjoy a vegan bread with fresh filling such as avocado, spinach leaves and cress (starting at € 3.90). Also their vegan apple cake or their banana bread is worth a try – a freshly baked by themselves.
