Lunch in Berlin: NU

This place isn’t new to us but we still love coming here and enjoy a delicious lunch. The NU Restaurant is located in Berlin Charlottenburg which you can reach easily by train (S-Bahn Station: Savignyplatz). They serve really good Asian food and each week you can find their new Lunch menu online. This makes it a little easier to plan your visit. You can choose between three different Lunch menus every day (Monday to Friday). Each main dish is served with a starter of your choice (mainly soups or a salad). As a starter I enjoyed a Tom Ka Gai soup and as a main dish I went for a chicken curry with rice, potatoes, carrots and coconut milk. For everything I payed € 7,50 and was more than satisfied. Dinner in Berlin: Cơm Á

This restaurant brought me to the district Kreuzberg in Berlin. It’s located on the Oranienstraße and pretty easy to reach by bus or subway (unless it’s 1st of May). You can choose between Vietnamese dishes from the grill, Japanese sushis and Cambodian salads. I went for a grilled chicken dish served with fresh salad (loved the avocado in it) and rice, costing € 8,50. My boyfriend decided to eat grilled beef rump with salad and rice as well (€ 9,90). The sushis you see in the pictures were eight Ebi Chumakis (shrimps, cucumber, rocket salad and cream cheese) for € 4,40. As drinks we had Chanh Da, which I would always go for when having asian dinner or lunch. Coffee in Berlin: Le Johann Rose

A sunny day in town and a short trip to Kreuzberg, thats how Sundays always should look like. A dance performance of a friend brought me into that direction. On my way to the venue I came across this little café called La Johann Rose and decided to have a quick coffee stop there. The inside is charmingly decorated, kitsch and vintage pieces are the main things you will find along with some patterned wallpapers and fresh flowers on the table. A Latté Macchiato costs € 2,80 (To Go € 2,00) and is served in a full glas with delicious foam. Along with that I enjoyed a banana nut bread slice, which was so fluffy and costs € 2,00. If you are looking for other sweat treats you can choose between some other freshly made cakes, brownies (one € 2,00), ice-cream and vegan spelt waffles (starting at € 3,60). If you are looking for lunch, you will also be able to find something here. They serve soups and other little dishes. Afterwards just stroll through the …

Lunch in Potsdam: Burgerbüro

This places isn’t really new here in Potsdam but as it is with all those local places, you never go there. But since we want to provide you with some great to-go-to food destinations we tried this restaurant/imbiss for you. Burgerbüro is located in Potsdam-Babelsberg, not in the main center of the city actually. You come in and pull a number which is your pick-up code in the end. Mainly you come here for the burgers, of course. The Country Burger was super delicious and costs € 4,60 (if you add extra cheese it’s € 0,60 more). If you want some fries do share them if you go together with someone, the portion is enough for two since the burger is really big and filling. After this you honestly don’t need a dessert and try to come with a rather empty stomach. Lunch in Berlin: Die Kantine

When you start thinking of a canteen, what comes to your mind? Dark big halls, unhealthy food and a lot of noise? Certainly most of us remember the school or university canteen. However nowadays you can see that more people start to think about what they eat, certainly from a positive point of view. When one hears that more than 80% of health problems comes through wrong nutrition it definitely is time to rethink. But back to the subject. Having lunch in Berlin is in our opinion not that hard anymore. Many places have opened over the past years and this one is worth a try. Die Kantine (The Canteen) is a place for lunch in Berlin Mitte. The building was designed by David Chipperfield, a well-known architect, and is an addition to their architectural office in Berlin. The exposed concrete and the huge sliding windows give the whole atmosphere an own expression and fit into the minimal design and architecture practiced by Chipperfield. If you come along for Lunch you maybe should reserve a …

Coffee in Berlin: Kaffeemitte

A coffee break is just one of those things we really need on a long day or in-between a shopping trip. Energy comes back to the body and you can recover. There are many beautiful cafés in Berlin and you somehow get the feeling that Berlin is a coffee-city. If you are hanging around Hackescher Markt this café place is just the right one. Kaffeemitte is always filled with people and you can feel that this really is a typical Berlin Szene café. But nevertheless it’s worth a visit. They serve some delicious cakes (€ 2 – 4) and if you are rather looking for something hearty you can chose between some Paninis (€ 6 – 7,50) and other daily dishes (Salads and Pasta). Breakfast is also available. A Latté Macchiacto costs € 3,10 and is enough to satisfy your appetite. When the weather is good you can sit outside and watch tourists and Berliners go by. French Tea Time

Yesterday, we gladly accepted an invitation to our first French Tea time ever at Concorde Hotel Berlin. We surely knew the old tradition of English Tea but we have never experienced the French version up until now! Chocolate Cornflakes Cookies

For these delicious chocolate cornflakes cookies (my absolut favorite) you need: 250g butter 2 eggs 180g sugar one pack of vanilla sugar 350g flour 5-6 cups of cornflakes 100g dark chocolate 1/2 pack of backing powder 125g raisins Preheat your oven to 180°C Crush the cornflakes and chop the chocolate into small crumbs (if you have a good mixer or mixing machine the cornflakes will break in the mixing process). First you mix butter, eggs, vanilla sugar and sugar together. In a separate bowl we combine the flour with the backing powder. Then add it to the butter etc. mixture. Now you need the chopped chocolate and the raisins, all in there. Last but not least add the cornflakes. Form small heaps on the metal sheet covered with baking paper. Bake about 15 to 20 minutes on the second rack at 180 degree (upper/lower heat). Check after 15 minutes, it all depends on how big your heaps are. We do rather little ones because you can get more out of the recipe in the end. …
