Acai-Bowl

One of our obsessions since New York are Acai bowls. After we tried the Acai bowl at TwoHands we were more than willing to try it ourselves and share it with you.

Here is what you need: one frozen banana, 100g frozen raspberries, 75ml almond milk (you can also go for soy or coconut milk) and one tablespoon Acai powder, fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries – it’s up to you), granola, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and nuts.

How to make: Freeze a banana (cut into pieces) one night in advance. Add the banana, frozen raspberries, almond milk and Acai powder to a mixer and blend. Serve in a bowl. Garnish with the remaining ingredients.

When in Milan, one must see for fashionistas is the Armani House.

And if you’re also a fan of modern Japanese cuisine, you should definitely have dinner at the Nobu. It is a super cool, fully designed hotspot, which serves delicious food and has a very chic atmosphere.

MC Talk with Stephanie Lee Goldhahn

Stephanie Lee Goldhahn is a professional ballet dancer, currently living in Belgrade Serbia and working in the National Theatre. Originally from Australia her love of dance, which turned into a profession swept her up into traveling the world. She was the first Australian ballet dancer to be given a contract and employed as a soloist artist with the Imperial Russian Ballet and during this time was commended and written about by ballet critics of her debut performance of Cupid in Don Quixote. She’s currently engaged to Russian ballet dancer Daniil Kolmin and in the process of planning her wedding. Her love of writing has recently spurred her onto creating her own dance mixed with fashion blog, and her and Daniil’s wedding blog.

When you were a child, what did you dream of being?
When I was a child I really wanted to become an Olympic swimmer. I was really small, but very fast. My nickname was “Goldfish” (because my last name is Goldhahn) at competitions, I even believed one day I’d bring home a gold medal!

What do you always take with you when you travel?
I take my iPad everywhere! I usually just have to find free wifi if I need to contact someone. I don’t own a mobile phone, I haven’t for a few years now. I’m proud to say I can walk down the street without my head buried in my iPhone, or it be glued to my hand.

What is your favorite spot on earth?
Home. I think living away from Australia has made me appreciate it much more than I would have if I hadn’t had left. When I go home it feels like I’m going back in time – to an alternate chapter of my life. Little changes have happened but the majority of things just stay the same.

What is one thing left on your bucket list?
Work in Berlin! My grandparents were both born and lived in Berlin before coming to Australia. So I feel like I have a strong calling there, it would be a dream come true. My aunt and uncle were born in Germany, and my dad in Australia. He likes to say he’s the only Australian in the family!

What is your favorite indulgence?
Chips! I’m not so much of a sweet tooth but I love savoury food. Chips are my weakness!

What is your ingredient for a happy life?
Being able to sit, relax, enjoy good food and good wine in good company! I believe it’s really important to take time out and just do what makes you happy!

Lunch in Potsdam: Fahland Bistro

Last month the bakery chain Fahland (to be found in Potsdam and the surrounding area) opened a bistro in the heart of Potsdam. This is a new addition to their former concept. Along with their baked goods they offer sandwiches, soups, quiches, hearty salads, cakes and little tartlets.

The interior is nicely chosen: warm and welcoming (created by Martina Haag). But I was really disappointed by the service. The seller behind the counter seemed stressed and annoyed by someone ordering something. And this actually has a whole impact on your visit. The coffee wasn’t hot enough from the beginning which is why it cooled out too quickly.

In total it was nice to try and the food was good but I guess I will not come back because of the unfriendly service and the cold coffee.

Spring is in the air

Last weekend my dancer colleague Davina and I took the chance to snap some spring inspired pictures under these beautiful blooming trees. They just make the perfect backdrop for such pictures and when they bloom you have to be real quick because as quickly as they grow the blossoms will be gone again just after a stormy day.

MC Talk with Alex Lester

I met Alex during a Brand Management course at London College of Fashion some years ago. He is a creative and most definitely a life lover. On his website The Peacock Paper you find  a carefully curated selection of his beautiful photography in travel diaries. He also works as a creative director and stylist.

When you were a child, what did you dream of being?
I had a few careers that I was pretty into as a child – at one stage I really wanted to be a tv presenter, another time, whilst listening to Nikki Webster (an Asustralian pop star at the time, and now a complete guilty pleasure), I declared I wanted to be a singer!

What do you always take with you when you travel?
I don’t want to say my iPhone, but i realised that it can get you out of almost any situation! You can take photos (essential), book accommodation, access cash, pay for things, call people, direct you places! Otherwise, I always need to travel with my camera – and couldn’t quite imagine doing so without one.

What is your favorite spot on earth?
In terms of a place abroad, though not necessarily my ‘favourite spot’ per se, I remember being absolutely taken away by the Atlas Mountains out of Marrakech. We were standing on a rope bridge, with water gushing under us, snow-capped mountains in the background, and I just remember thinking ‘this is the most incredible thing I have seen.’ I think there is so much of the world to discover, and this might be replaced by something else!

What is one thing left on your bucket list?
Something I have dreamt of seeing for a long time is the northern lights. Hopefully soon to be realised, I have dreamed of witnessing this phenomenon for a long time now – and I have all fingers crossed that I see it while in scandinavia later this year!

What is your favorite indulgence?
Speculoos. Definitely Speculoos. I say that because i have finally been reunited with this obsession after 2 and a half (long) years searching for it in just about every supermarket here in Australia!

What is your ingredient for a happy life?
I think one of the most important things is everyday trying to decrease as much you can, any stress, anxiety and really trying to be as calm as you can. I think once you are so at peace, and in a relaxed state – the harder things in life are easier to deal with, and the happy, you can feel with complete intensity.

On a not so sunny spring weekend, we are invited to a super cute baby shower by a common friend of ours. It’s always a pleasure to be there for such occasions and to feel the love of a mommy to be!

For this event I chose a nude colored outfit, simple and not too fancy.

Food & Shopping in London: Spitalfields Market

The first couple of times I visited London, I did not even know the Shoreditch area. But when I found out, I was simply amazed!

I love this edgy and cool side of London and in particular the Spitalfields market. I love to go there on sundays, even though it is quite crowded. But the many different food, arts and clothing stands are worth it.
