Dinner in Munich: Servus Heidi

I‘m actually not such a big fan of traditional Bavarian food because it’s mostly heavy on the stomach. But when you are in Munich for the first time I guess it is an obligation to try it out. My best friend checked through the online portal TripAdvisor were she found this restaurant called Servus Heidi. They serve traditional Bavarian food but interpreted them in a new way. It’s located a little outside of the city center but easy to reach with the subway. When we got there the place was packed. We didn’t make a reservation in advance but when you head here on a Friday or Saturday night make sure to reserve a table beforehand. Just in order to avoid waiting for half an hour. But since we had time it was really nice to sit at the bar and enjoy a pre drink plus already flicking through their menu. It’s not  big menu which is always a good sign since the small amount of dishes they make are mostly good. My friend went …

Dinner in Potsdam: Mea Culpa

I can easily add Mea Culpa to one of my most favourite places I have ever been to. The restaurant is located in the heart of Potsdam, right on a street corner. They serve delicious Spanish food, especially their tapas are worth a visit. You can choose between cold and warm served tapas. I highly recommend to share them so you can order a variety of tapas. One pot is filled pretty well, perfect for sharing, and most of them include garlic. So, make sure you all have some and your appointments afterwards aren’t coming too close. Besides their delicious food you should definitely try their mint rosé spritzer. It’s super refreshing and gives the whole setting an extra holiday-feeling. Make sure to reserve a table before dropping by. They are highly requested and most evenings fully booked. Then you also need to wait a little until your food is ready. Advice for spontaneous visits? Go there either for lunch or during the early afternoon, then the chances are higher to get a table without …

Dinner in Palma: l’ambigú

During my short getaway to Palma we came across this little restaurant. Hidden behind a church in the old town of Palma l’ambigú offers a good selection of tapas and other main dishes. All three of us went for the same dish since it just sounded too good. As you can see in the pictures we had a burger toped with goats cheese and avocado cream, french fries, slices of corn and a salad consisting of small tomatoes and red cabbage. Thanks to the warm evening we were able to sit outside and enjoy the calmness of this location. If you want to enjoy a dinner here, we highly recommend to make a reservation beforehand. Otherwise you can wait between 30 minutes and an hour to get hold of a table. Dinner in Berlin: The Butcher

Last week we gladly followed an invitation to have dinner at The Butcher in Charlottenburg, near  Savingyplatz. It was a fun night with a handful of other foodie bloggers from in and around Berlin! What we loved most about the restaurant is it’s design: when you enter there is a long counter and the walls have white tiles (just like a real butcher shop!). The next room is a super modern library with some food and design books leading to a winter garden facing the patio. What is so special about the interior design is that there is an open kitchen that you can see from the inside and the outsite. You can actually see the cooks preparing meat in the windows facing the street. I think that is a perfect idea to attract guests! Apart from the nice interior we enjoyed some serious burgers, fries, ribs and corn poppers. Also, I love the fact that there is Brooklyn Lager on the beer menu! Dinner in Palma: The Boat House

While staying in Palma we tried to test various restaurants for dinner. Normally I like to check Instagram for recommended spots but this time we just strolled through town to find some nice places. One of those was this spot, located at the port of Palma. The Boat House offers meat, fresh fish, salads, pasta and risotto dishes. If you are three or more people I can highly recommend a jag of sangria to share. It just underlines the great location. I had a vegetable risotto which was delicious. The vegetables which came along with the fish were a little too oily but overall a good seaside dish. The atmosphere in the evening was just great and super relaxing. It really is a nice spot to visit with some friends, have a cocktail and let the day end in a good way. Lunch in Berlin: Cecconi’s

This week I was finally able to try out Cecconi’s, newest extension to Soho House Berlin. The restaurant serves fine Italian food and has an extensive menu satisfying every taste. We enjoyed a wide variation of dishes and can definitely recommend the meatballs, tatar and grilled fish. Apart from the excellent food, I love Cecconi’s interior, which is a gathering of huge, red chesterfield sofas, heavy wooden tables and giant chandeliers, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Dinner in Kopenhagen: Streetfood

Our hottest tip for Kopenhagen and one of the coolest places I know: the street food market on Paper island. When the weather is sunny, you can sit outside nearby the water, a DJ is playing cool tunes and there is the most delicious food and drinks inside. You’ll find food stands from all over the world, my favorite was the brioche pulled pork burger (soaking but so delicious!) and of course the cheesecake stand (strawberry!!!). You’ll get there taking the “water bus” in two minutes.

Dinner in Berlin: Crackers

Crackers is one of the new hotspots in Berlin. It has an impressive interior that is both chic and cool, and foremost very “Berlin”. We loved the warm freshly made brioche that comes as a starter and the vegetarian burger with mushrooms. Crackers is definitely the place to be on a Saturday or Friday night, before heading out to dance. Dinner in New York: Gotham West Market

New York is mostly a forerunner in many categories, this also applies to food. During my time in New York I discovered that they have a lot of these so called markets. Here you find different little vendors which offer a variety of food. The most famous is probably Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking district area. But its always packed with tourists. So, here we have something more delicate for you. The Gotham West Market is located in the Hell’s Kitchen area and offers a delicious list of culinary offerings. It’s a place where young people meet and hang-out in the evening. I can highly recommend Ivan Ramen Slurp soup (Breakfast All Day Ramen and the Shrimp Buns – delicious!) , Ample Hills ice cream (post coming soon on this) and the Blue Bottle coffee (see our experience about this here!).
