January’s Favorites

The first month of the year is coming to an end and we are happy to share some of our favorite beauty / accessories additions with you. Half-moon necklace from H&M I bought this little cute necklace last week since it perfectly matches my kind-off jewelry obsession. It’s delicate, a little sparkly and offers a nice highlight to any casual outfit combination. Real Techniques makeup brushes These brushes make the application of makeup fun and easy. The brush itself is soft and the brand offers a good variety of products. Great quality for a great price. They are not as expensive as the Zoeva brushes but just as good. Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days nail polish Super easy to apply and a nice shade (Rose Veil nr. 882) for the season. I have not tried if they really stay for 7 days but it worked for three.

Quinoa with Yogurt, Raspberries and Walnuts Bowl

This Christmas I had quite a few cook books on my wish list and was super happy when most of them landed under the tree. This recipe is from the book The Grain Bowl (thank you, Swenja!) by Nik Williamson and I absolutely love making this breakfast bowl in the morning. What you need: Serves 2 65g Quinoa 250ml Almond or hazelnut milk 50g rolled oats 100g rasperries 4 tablespoons honey 120g whole (full-fat) yogurt 4 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts optional: I added blueberries and walnuts “Put the quinoa into a medium pan, pour in the almond milk and 250ml water and place over high heat. Bring to boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Add the oats and increase the heat to medium. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes, or until the porridge reaches the desired consistency. You may need to add up to 120ml more water if the quinoa absorbs too much liquid. Remove from the heat. Meanwhile, put the raspberries (and if also wanted blueberries) into a small …

Brunch in Berlin: Benedict

Berlin is such a vibrant, economically strong growing city that so many place pop-up around town like mushrooms. So many young, talented people come to Berlin to follow their dreams and establish a good growing business. One of those new in-locations is Benedict, an all-day breakfast spot close to Kurfürstendamm. Their menu is filled with typical breakfast dishes such as eggs benedict, omelettes, pancakes, french toast and granola dishes. We went for: – the vegan breakfast, a chickpea pancake with onions, corn and tomatoes. Served with delicious buns and three spreads (eggplant, tahini and beetroot humus) – the classic mini pancakes with maple syrup (favorite dish from our selection) – muesli with greek yogurt, fresh fruits and honey All in all it was a nice morning. If you consider going here make sure to have some time. When we arrived we had to put our names on a waiting list (they currently don’t take any reservations) and got our table about 20/25 minutes later. We both felt a little New-York-flash-back, there you always need to …

Saturday’s at the museum

Its been a while since we shared a post with you but we have been extremely busy lately and figured we only would like to come back posting, when we have more content to share with you. The past weeks I have been running between university lectures and dance training. Last October I started my M.A. study program (dance science) at the Freie Universität Berlin. After finishing my B.A. in art history and history I figured it was time to pick-up a field I dream of working in. Studying art history and history was good and I still consider working in this section but I’m really looking forward to expand my horizon in the dance science area. During the next weeks we will share more personal information with you, show you new places, offer some recipes and shopping details. These pictures were taken at the Hamburger Bahnhof, a museum offering a range of contemporary art. The collection permanently displayed is not my favorite (except the works of Warhol and Lichtenstein) one but the building itself …

Coffee in Potsdam: et cetera

Et cetera is a small café located in the center of Potsdam, linked to the city library. It offers a good range of sweet treats e.g. cakes, cookies and muffins as well as hearty tarts and a fresh soup (changing on a daily basis). I only had the chance to try a small chocolate ring cake but certainly will come back to try the other ones. The coffee was good, could have been a little hotter though. Besides normal milk they also offer soy milk (coasting 40cents extra). The interior is really warm and welcoming. They offer a good range of comfy seats and you can certainly stay for one or two hours. Blogger Xmas Workshop

Headspace PR and COTY simply know how to get you in the Christmas mood. Last week Friday I took the chance to head to Hamburg in order to attend their traditionell Christmas Blogger workshop. The venue was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees, the smell of Apple crumble was in the air and everyone seemed merry&bright. Through the afternoon we worked on some perfume themed DIY Christmas gifts, had some coffee and enjoyed the company of fellow bloggers. The perfumes mainly focused on were Mexx, Playboy, Bruno Banani, James Bond 007 and David Beckham. A big thank you to COTY and the Headspace PR team for inviting us once again. We always love joining you on such special events.

Coffee in Berlin: Bacis Coffee

When you enter the daily life of a student you quickly notice that coffee is a necessity for most of them. And yes, we actually count to this group. However, the coffee offered at the cafeteria is not that outstanding which is why we are constantly searching for great coffee spots closely located to our institute. Last year I stumbled across Bacis Coffee close to the subway station Dahlem Dorf and was instantly in love with their welcoming atmosphere and the delicious coffee they serve. You can really taste the coffee and are always treated with a small cookie (all café spots out there: a little sweet treat accompanying your coffee makes the costumer really happy – simple and easy!). They also serve some delicious lunch dishes, fresh bagels and some yummy cakes/cookies. Culture in Berlin: Canova und der Tanz

Rainy weekend days are made for visiting the museum and Berlin just offers such a great variety. Since a few weeks the Bode Museum is hosting the exhibition “Canova und der Tanz” (Canova and the dance). This exhibition features works of the Italian neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova. As a special highlight they offer guided tours (approx. 60 minutes long) with a little performance of a corps de ballet dancer from the Staatsballett Berlin (this could have been a little longer in my opinion). The ballet dancer also wears a recreation of the dress worn by the Canovas famous sculpture “The Dancer” and you somehow visualize the whole scenery on how the sculptor created this piece. These tours are limited and you certainly need to book a ticket in advance however the exhibition is also worth a visit without the tour. Halloween Special Pt. 3 – Bon Appétit

And here it is! Our third and last Halloween Special post. You may have noticed that it’s just me in all the this years Halloween pictures. Sadly, Jana got sick a few days before the photoshoot and wasn’t able to take part. Health always comes first and therefore we figured it was the right decision to keep her out of it and cuddled-up in bed. This set of pictures was my favorite one since I loved the setting, my dress and the theater blood. Actually the first time I tried this red liquid. What’s more to say? Happy Halloween!!!
