Café in Potsdam: What Do You Fancy Love?

In Berlin already widely know, you can now also find a What Do You Fancy Love? in Potsdam’s city center. The opening took a little longer than expected. But now you can finally enjoy some fresh pressed juices and various bagels in the Dortustraße. The café is similar furnished and designed like the ones in Berlin, they certainly sticked to their concept of laid-back, simple interior. The first weeks after the opening I still wasn’t so keen on trying it out but figured on a beautiful Sunday the time was here. The coffee and the juice were good. The bagel of my friend was slightly overloaded with cream cheese which made eating it a little tricky (cream cheese squeezing its way out and all over the hands). In total its a nice place to meet with friends to enjoy a coffee or juice. Even though the quality of the coffee wasn’t that outstanding, I would only come back for the juices. Nevertheless you can absolutely enjoy some free time outside during these summer days.     …

Coffee in Potsdam: Kellermann

Since a long time I was craving for a cute coffee spot in Babelsberg, the area I spend quite a lot of time since the studio in try with is located here. There are many bakeries around but they don’t serve delicious coffee. Close to the subway station there used to be this super tiny coffee store where only two people would fit in to order their beverage. But it was worth the wait since the coffee was super delicious here. And then, someday, it was closed. I was really devastated since I just loved to grab a coffee to go here. A few weeks later a bigger café opened a few meters away and I instantly recognized that it was the same owner. They enlarged their business and now have a big café. This made me super happy and of course I wanted to share the new Kellermann with you. Besides some delicious coffee you can enjoy some fresh baked cakes, sandwiches, frozen yogurt and ice pops. They also offer fresh soups and quiche …

Breakfast in Potsdam: BioBackHaus

Sometimes you just need a quick breakfast spot in town where you can enjoy a good coffee and some on-the-go snacks. The BioBackHaus ist located in the center of Potsdam, really close to the Dutch Quarter (a sight-seeing sensation in Potsdam). Back when we went to school, we quite often dropped by and got a bread roll or a piece of cake here since it was just around the corner from our main building. They serve bio products produced in Berlin and Brandenburg. Mainly they have focused on baked goods but for their breakfast offer they also have yogurt with fruits, scrambled eggs and cold cuts. The buns, bread slices and cake pieces are really delicious and also perfect to take-away. Of course the price range is a little higher than at a normal bakery but sometimes you can afford to get something here. Come here early in the morning on a sunny day and enjoy your coffee outside, sun-bathing including. Price $$$$$ // Service ☆☆☆☆☆ // Location ☆☆☆☆☆ // Taste ☆☆☆☆☆ no wifi available …

Dinner in Potsdam: Mea Culpa

I can easily add Mea Culpa to one of my most favourite places I have ever been to. The restaurant is located in the heart of Potsdam, right on a street corner. They serve delicious Spanish food, especially their tapas are worth a visit. You can choose between cold and warm served tapas. I highly recommend to share them so you can order a variety of tapas. One pot is filled pretty well, perfect for sharing, and most of them include garlic. So, make sure you all have some and your appointments afterwards aren’t coming too close. Besides their delicious food you should definitely try their mint rosé spritzer. It’s super refreshing and gives the whole setting an extra holiday-feeling. Make sure to reserve a table before dropping by. They are highly requested and most evenings fully booked. Then you also need to wait a little until your food is ready. Advice for spontaneous visits? Go there either for lunch or during the early afternoon, then the chances are higher to get a table without …

Coffee in Potsdam: Buena Vida Coffee Club

This place has been on my Potsdam guide list for quite some time. I have already been to Buena Vida Coffee Club more than once but never had my camera with me. Last Sunday I took the chance and had a coffee break with two friends and my camera. Buena Vida Coffee Club is located in the heart of Potsdam and serves all kind of Espresso drinks, warm and cold, as well as some delicious bakery treats. The coffee they serve is absolutely amazing and probably one, if not the best to drink in Potsdam. The interior is cozy and you can easily spend some time here. They also offer free wifi which makes it a great sport for working and enjoying a coffee. It took a little while to get our coffee because they take their time to prepare each one with love and therefor its totally fine to wait a while. Breakfast in Potsdam: Zweitwohnsitz

A few friends of mine already recommended this place to me and I was really happy to finally try it last Friday. Zweitwohnsitz (meaning like second home) is a small café located in Potsdam West. The interior is really charming and you feel home instantly. We headed there for breakfast but they also serve various lunch options, filled Pita breads and delicious looking cake (need to come back and try a slice). On a paper you can find various breakfast pieces and a free space to fill in a number of the amount you want. It offers you the chance to put together your own breakfast they way you want it to be. I absolutely loved the coffee because it was a good ground coffee, rich in smell and flavor. Besides normal milk they also offer soy, lactose-free and oat milk (my new favorite milk for coffee). I certainly need to come back since many people recommended me to go there on a Saturday for their brunch buffet. You see, still so many options to …

Culture in Potsdam: Museum Barberini

Since a few weeks the city center of Potsdam has been enriched by another great cultural attraction: the Museum Barberini. Filled with pieces reaching from the Old Masters to contemporary artists, this place is a true sensation for art lovers. It took quite some time to find the right place and building for the museum but with the newly build Plazzo Barberini the art, mainly sponsored by Hasso Plattner, has finally found a good setting. The architecture of the building is beautiful: free, spacious and filled with light. If you plan to visit the museum make sure to bring some time and make sure to buy some tickets before. Even though its already open since a few weeks there are still queue in front of the main entrance in the morning. Another great tip: download their free! App and enjoy some good, short entries on the art displayed in the museum. Museum Barberini Alter Markt Humboldtstraße 5–6 14467 Potsdam What To Wear to this location

The healthy eating trend is still growing strong and little cafés pop up like flowers in spring. Good dEATs, located in the heart of Potsdam, is another of these healthy spots. Everything served here is vegan. Mainly they offer breakfast and cakes as well as little chocolate bites. On Friday evening you can enjoy some vegan burgers. Culture in Potsdam/Berlin: Frauensache

A few weeks ago I had the great chance to visit Schloss Sanssouci (a local sightseeing highlight) on aMonday, a day when the doors normally stay closed for the public. From the 22nd of August until the 22nd of November the Stiftung Preußischer Schlösser und Gärten will be hosting the exhibition “Women’s Business. How Brandeburg became Prussia“. In this the Hohenzollern women are the center of attention, how they shaped the country, what goals they had and how ambitious they were. The main exhibition will be held at Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin, in other castles such as Sanssouci, the visitors will find little information boxes for this purpose. However this is not a place for a spontaneous breakfast. You got to plan your visit in advance (at least two days before) and make a reservation.
