L.O.V. Cosmetics

At the Edition F Female Future event we first came across the new cosmetics line L.O.V. – we got a lovely goody bag with some really nice nail polish colors and make-up products. After testing the products we can only say, that we’re fans already! We didn’t know about this new cosmetic line before since, like most of us, already have our make-up products we love and keep. But sometimes it’s nice to get to know a new one. The design of the products is really clear and minimalistic but visually they are a sensation. Blending in to every bathroom collection or dressing table decoration.

Oktoberfest Special

On Saturday it’s that time of the year again. The world’s biggest Volksfest will open it’s gates in Munich. Hello, Wiesn – hello, Oktoberfest! Since 1810 these festivities are annually held in Munich but since a few years this tradition has also swept over to other areas. Also in Berlin and Potsdam are many events taking place in the next few weeks under the theme “Oktoberfest”. Jana traditionally heads to the Oktoberfest hosted by the Café am Neuen See, which took place the past weekend. Here she has collected some impressions for you to get you in the mood. Here’s her impression of the past event: “I love CANS WIESN at Café am Neuen See. Firstly, my boyfriend is the host of the event and secondly, all my friends are there! Oktoberfest in Munich might be the original, but surely the atmosphere and spirits are at least the same in our Oktoberfest tent! We all love to dance the night away to the classic Wiesn Hits and just have fun. I can only recommend to …

MC Talk with Cailin Klohk

Cailin Klohk, who we spotted through Instagram, is 23 years old and was born and raised in Germany. Her mum is Irish, so she grew up speaking English as her first language and moved to London to study here when she was just 19. Today, Cailin works as the Junior Fashion Writer at Topshop Head Office. Her job includes managing and writing the Topshop blog (find an article here on how she got her job), as well as writing features for the Topshop UK website, newsletters and more. This background got us hocked instantly and we are super happy that we got her to fill out our interview. When you were a child, what did you dream of being? I wanted to be an actress when I was younger – I was actually signed with an agency for a while and got quite far in the casting rounds for some big German productions, but I quickly noticed I wasn’t that into it after all, so I gave up that dream. Then I wanted to be a …

Personal Issue: About growing beyond oneself

Frankly, the last couple of months have been rough. To say it mildly, I’ve had a lot on my plate! Some would argue, that it was my own fault, I simply say: you grow with your tasks. In Winter 2015, I’ve taken on a job as a conceptualist / marketing manager / interior designer for a Berlin start-up called Rose Garden. You might have seen it in a post the other day. I’ve loved this job from day one and given my heart and soul for this brand. My tasks included to work on concepts, do trend research as well as develop a Social Media strategy and form the brand’s CI – to make a long story short – a dream job for a young creative business student like me. I worked full-time during the semester break and wasn’t ready to give up my job when the semester started again, so the only consequence was to do both. And that’s what I did. I signed up for my bachelor’s thesis, which I wrote about brand …

Five Things About Dancing in New York

When Jana stayed in New York for an internship I took the chance the join her for six weeks and follow my passion: dancing. It was an amazing time and I have learned so much from taking this step. In a short list I have collected the five things you should always keep in mind when thinking about doing the same thing. 1. Everyone wants to make it in New York. Thus it is very tough working in this city as a dancer. There are so many talented people around who are working their ass off to make it here (this actually fits into every job area in NYC). 2. Dance classes are expensive in New York. An average class (any dance style) costs between 18 und 20 bucks. Not something you can afford on an everyday basis for such a long time. 3. Be prepared that in every class someone is better than you. For me it always was a motivation to become better, train harder and watch them how they work. But I …

Culture in Washington: National Gallery of Art

Through my Art History studies I knew that the National Gallery of Art in Washington had a lot of art but when I walked through the breath-taking building I was still mesmerized. The whole museum is so beautifully arranged and the pieces are delicately hanged or placed in the rooms. For a art fan a true bliss! But most of all I was fascinated by the East and West Garden Court – a tropical oasis were I just could have stayed forever. And best part? All of this is for f r e e! If you want to visit this museum make sure to plan your day around it. It takes time but is certainly worth it. Bath Storage Tips

A girl’s bathroom sometimes means only one thing – chaos! There is just tons of different products, brushes, nail lacquers, concealers etc… That is why we love to organize our beauty equipment in order to make our bathroom look nice and neat. Here is some tips how to organize your products: 1. Put all your brushes into a pretty glass. We love some vintage glasses and flea market finds, I found a super nice one at the flea market in Paris and since then all my brushes are stored in this special glass and it even reminds me of my Paris time. 2. Everyone knows that girls have hundreds of hair ties and they tend to lie around everywhere in our apartments. Just take all of them and put them into a jar. You will always find one if you need it and they are all in one place. 3. Put your hand wash, lotion and soap onto a small decorative plate, for example by HAY (available at Bikini Berlin). It will keep your soap from floating around in a small puddle and …

Book Recommendation: How to be Parisian

This book isn’t something new for the fashion crowd out there. But since it was just released in German we thought it would be great to share it once more. The book is funny from the beginning until the end. Caroline De Maigret along with three other French ladies tells all the women around the world how to be Parisian wherever you are. What key pieces you need to have in your closet and how, most important, your attitude and habits need to be. There are no long essays but great short entries and so many good quotes everyone should keep in mind from time to time. After reading this book you start to feel a little more what life is about. It’s about living, give yourself the chance to do so and don’t let too many people judge your life after all.

Baroque Moments

We both are jewelry lovers which is why we are more than happy to share these delicate pieces with you. Finding the right accessories is not easy and it can take years until you have found the appropriate jewelry fitting your style and your mood. Choosing jewelry everyday can be really nerve-racking and somehow you get used to the same necklace, the same pair of earrings or the same bracelet. A routine kicks in. Therefore it is really important to add the one or other new piece to your treasure box so you can sometimes get rid of your normal pattern.
